Truly despise this signing. Every inning a nightmare.

I knew even in 2002, 2003, 2004 that life after Mariano Rivera would be a scary, cold place. It's 5 years later and I still hate the ninth inning.

Nice to see vintage Chapman tonight.

He's struck out the last eight batters he's faced.

FIP of -0.37 so far. Would like to see his ERA match his FIP

He's been completely dominant these past few weeks.

...which is why there are all of eight posts in this thread. Keep it up, Chappie.

Exactly right. All the "hate this signing told you so" will only show up after a rough outing.

There's a weird camera angle in HOU so that is probably the explanation, but the tail Chapman had last night on his 100 MPH offerings to Gourriel and Gonzalez looked downright unnatural.

Whatever the angle was, that might have been the most “no way they’re hitting him” feeling I’ve had about Chapman. Game was over.

Yeah, everything looked like 2 seamers last night.

I don't think it was the camera angle, he had that pitch all the time in Cincinnati and has only occasionally had it since coming to NY. I think when he is at his best and most relaxed, he gets that backwards tail, which looks as unhittable as anything I've ever seen.

Nope. Camera angle. Just normal 4 seamers.

Overpowered Altuve with fastballs right down the middle, you don’t see that too often but not many guys sit 101. Love me some Chapman.

That was impressive. All of them right down the middle at 101. As if he was saying, "here you go, midget, see if you could hit it". Then after the strikeout, an expressionless stare, "I told you so".

Those moments where Chapman seems to take offense that somebody even steps in the box against him are absolutely priceless.

Absolutely the best Chapman has looked as a Yankee. That tailing fastball is unhittable.

Another high-pressure save tonight, good job keeping Betts in the on deck circle.
