No, relievers need to pitch more than 1 inning. Boone is beyond horrible as a manager; he must be responsible for at least 5 or 6 loss4es this year.
Standings: Big Inning 32-16; Blue Cut 27-21; Shoo Fly 26-22; Husk 22-26; Frank Pierce 21-27; Iowa City 16-32.

Has anyone seen a lefty who serves up as many HRs to lefty hitters than Shreve?

Forget a demotion, release him now. And pack Neil Walker along with him.

Absolutely no reason he should still be on this team.

Exactly, which is why this is on Cashman.

There is no legitimate reason for Shreve remaining on this team. Crazy high ERA, crazy high home runs, high BBs and canít get out lefties.

You donít make any sense with your one inning edict.

Yes, of course, today is an anomaly because of extra innings and German's bad start. As you well know, the relievers normally go 1 inning. Not today, but almost always.

Does not get LH hitters out, no reason to keep him. They have to know his numbers. So makes little sense why he's been here for a few seasons now.

Re: 2018 Chasen Shreve Performance Thread

I put this in the Cashman thread, but I'll put it here also -

Shreve is now in Tyler Clippard territory

    Tyler Clippard 2017 (Yankees stats)
    5 losses 4.95 ERA 40 games 36.1 innings 28 hits 20 earned runs 7 home runs 19 walks

    Chasen Shreve 2018
    2 losses 5.19 ERA 28 games 26 innings 28 hits 15 earned runs 7 home runs 15 walks

Yes, it's time to go. As soon as they failed to score Gardner, I turned the game off as I knew Shreve was going to give it up. What I didn't know is that it would only take him one freaking pitch to do so. You can see that he's shot, mentally and physically as far as being an effective Yankee reliever.

I said the same thing once it went to extra innings. Once we got through Betances and Green you knew the only guy left was Shreve and the game was over. Hard to believe but losing A J Cole probably cost us this game. I assume he would have pitched before Shreve.

I understand that all players named Chase or variants (Jace, Chasen) have to play for the Yankees. They/donít have to stay forever.

At least he got it over with, and didnít drag it out in a painful way.

On the downside, heís still rested.

This is today's bullpen usage history profile. What could go wrong?

    Pitcher Last 3 days
    Sun Sat Fri
    Dellin Betances (R) 14 0 0
    Luis Cessa (R) 0 0 26
    Aroldis Chapman (L) 0 0 0
    Chad Green (R) 35 15 0
    Jonathan Holder (R) 25 0 0
    David Robertson (R) 15 0 0
    Chasen Shreve (L) 1 25 0
    Adam Warren (R) 28 0 24
I wonder if they would use Cessa in a pinch and find somebody else to take his start.

Well, at least Shreve is rested and ready.
