    Yup^^
Baseball games are not won with a formula. If you can hit, they will find a place for you

I dont think we should be expecting him to go much farther than 5-6 innings.

I mean if you want to include two more starts you can post his season numbers.

Post was meant to imply he is in fact getting better.

But hes not. Just look at his last 2 starts. The point was that we can prove anything we want when we cherry pick the numbers. Here are the numbers that really matter for Sonny this year:

    Home - 7.22 ERA
    Away - 2.93 ERA

No but the difference between 5 and 6 in current baseall is actually kind of significant. Of the 4 Yankees "veteran" starters, he has the fewest IP per appearance, albeit by fractions but still. Of course he gets a pass on ace Severino but he is behind not only Tanaka but superannuated, knee-held-together-with-chewing-gum CC. That CAN'T. HAPPEN.

Tanaka should replace Sonny in the rotation. Phantom DL him.

Have to give him credit. This has turned out to be a darn good start.

You can blame whomever. He is just not that good for us...regardless of location, catcher, manager.
He has been underwhelming. A lot of us were wrong about him.

3 runs in 6 innings is not good. Its mediocre for a starter with his expectations.

I said that at 6.2 innings, and wasnt comparing it to his expectations. If they could get that out of him more often, hed be a perfectly fine middle-of-the-rotation guy. Im not hoping for Gray to be a 1 or 2 anymore.

I checked the pitchFX - IMO wasn't bad. Beginning hurt but did good after that. Maybe he was trying to control his curve? I don't know. His curve wasn't great but 57% FB. Me. I really like Germn so I got Gray as back end, 4th. A lot of people just don't like him and our offense lost the game.

I didn't like the trade for Gray last year and I hate it now. I know they probably can't do it now. But I hope next year he's traded....

(Not talking about the fans/posters here) Teflon should be Gray's first name. I have never seen as many excuses made for a Yankees player ever. From the team to the announcers to the reporters.....

Re: 2018 Sonny Gray Performance Thread

IMO Gray slots in nicely in the #4 spot, with CC behind him. I've been frustrated by his inconsistent (at best) performance here in the first half, but he showed a filthy curve and some pinpoint command of his four-seamer yesterday thru the middle innings, when he retired 15 in a row.

Cashman can't possibly think of him as a dependable #3 right now and needs to use the organizational strength he has to resolve this giant question mark. It will be a giant failure if the Yanks lose a chance for a championship because of their starter depth.
