He wasn't good nor did I like his post game comments. He needs to trust his stuff, but I'm not sure he's going to get it together here. I kind of wish David Cone was his pitching coach.

Until pickles stops nibbling, he should be quarantined from the team. He’s already turning into a bad influence to Monty.

Thank you, I remembered those unis with the nicknames, but missed the one about Gray/pickles.

Still a believer. But he must change his approach. His stuff is far too good to take on hitters like he's Jamie Moyer.

I still think it was a smart trade, and odds are we are going to win it. However, they need to get him sorted out. Watching him start is painful. Like watching Freddy Garcia.

For all the commentary last night from David Cone, that's the guy Gray actually reminds me of the most - the later in his career, but not yet washed up, Cone. Basically his good Yankees years.

They have a similarly slight stature, and everything they throw moves. I hope they have Coney sit him down and be blunt with him - "I know your stuff; I was you. You can't %@$# around out there like you're a fringe starter scared of making a mistake. Your stuff is too good."

So frustrating. He's so much better than he's shown so far. We'll I'll continue to support him at least through 10 starts, justify my faith Sonny.

I totally agree with you about the Cone comparison. The Yankees should be having Cone spend some time with him. It can't hurt, he's already off the rails.

Since a subscription is required to see what's in your link, can you give us a hint as to what it says? No long quotations, mind. Just a hint.

Re: 2018 Sonny Gray Performance Thread

I posted a bit in the regular season thread, he is trying to go back to his 2015 form:

"“I think you’ll notice my hands farther away from my body,” Gray told The Athletic.
The change, he said, will help him avoid getting “stuck” in the middle of his delivery. "

There is more there, good reporting.

    Absolute garbage.

Where is everyone who insisted this was a #1 starter and lost their sh*t on those of us who insisted he wasn’t even a #2 when Cashman traded for him last year?

I was one of those. I'll own up that I was wrong. Thankfully we didn't really give up anything too important. We might miss Kap but he's such a huge question mark.

Re: 2018 Sonny Gray Performance Thread

I didn't think he was a number one but I thought he was a solid number two. His performance isn't even rotation worthy at this point. If he doesn't get straightened out the Yankees will be in trouble.
