How many strikes does it take to get Shreve out?

Itís not like he is Yankees favorite son

He kind of is for some reason even though he's consistently not good. He didn't even have to compete for his roster spot coming out of camp and now that he has consistently shown he doesn't deserve it the team still won't cut bait. Its a case of Cash and co falling in love with the K/9. Please look at the BB/9 and HR/9.

But seriously I'm considering not watching the team until he is gone. Or at least turning off any game he enters. Hopefully the team will make the right choice soon.

    He's the new Chad Gaudin.

I don't get the analogy. Gaudin was here for parts of 2 seasons and was mostly a starter in the first stint. Shreve is a career-long reliever in Year 4 here.

They even throw with different hands.

More like Felix Heredia. Heís only here because he throws with his left hand.

Maybe the Yankees can sign Geovany Soto for the short term?

It wan't a direct comparison but the Yankees aren't really treating Shreve like a LOOGY.

I just remembering Gaudin coming into games in 2010 and giving up runs in almost every outing. I don't know how in the world he managed to stay on the roster the entire season without getting DFA''d. Because he was on the roster, Girardi kept using him deep into September as he failed time and time again and they ended up losing the division by one game to Tampa Bay partly due to his awful pitching.

Giancarlo Stanton went 5-for-5 with a walk in a 7-6 loss in 12 innings. He made it the 138th time since 1908 that a player had at least 5 hits, at least 1 walk, and a hit in every at-bat. Teams are now 112-26 (.812) since 1908 when a player does that.

I would argue that they seem to believe he gives them a platoon advantage against lefties, though, based on many game situations when I've seen him come in. And that's the madness (stupidity?) of it, he provides no platoon advantage, he has a reverse split for his career. After today's home run, his OPS against vs. lefties is over 1.000

According to Joel Sherman, the Yankees tried to sign left-hander Tony Watson during the offseason. He instead signed a luxury tax friendly two-year deal worth $9M guaranteed with the Giants. The veteran left-hander has a 1.82 ERA (1.76 FIP) with 29.6% strikeouts and 44.2% grounders in 34.2 innings this year. Heís a full inning southpaw, not a left-on-left matchup guy.

This is pretty interesting to me. The Yankees were trying to beef up their bullpen even more and they were apparently ready to cut Chasen Shreve loose. Hard to see how both wouldíve fit in the Opening Day bullpen.

It's up to Cashman to correct this.

It really seems like he is. And he is not just used as a one batter lefty. Remember a few weeks ago with a rested bullpen Boone tried to get 2 innings out of him and it predictably cost us a game.

How it makes any sense that a ball can be played off of that is beyond me, but yea that was going out.
