I wonder if Austin and Wade will be in a platoon with with Walker playing 2B v lefties and 1B v righties.

I believe that is the current plan for now.

I thought I read that Boone might give Austin some starts against RHP but I prefer the platoon option.

Walker hits better v RHP and can't play every day so it makes sense to give Austin a few starts v RHP on days they want to rest Walker.

Edit my brain must be addled I realize what I posted doesn't make much sense.

Three consecutive right handed batters? Girardi's head would have exploded! I like Boone's lineup.

Going against Happ, I think Hicks is going to be batting from the right side as well, so make that 4 in a row Definitely the oppo-Girardi lineup here.

Tangentially related to the Yankees, just saw Lindgren is having TJS again. I feel bad for him

I like the lineup. Even the bottom of the order is quite respectable.

How so? Against LHP, Girardi would regularly start a RHH heavy lineup.

On June 8th against David Price, his starting lineup was:

    Gardner
    Hicks
    Judge
    Holiday
    Castro
    Sanchez
    Didi
    Headley
    Carter

Eight RHH, with only Didi as a LHH. Once he batted, the lineup went eight RHH before a LHH.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

Definitely don't think Gardner should be leading off against a lefty.

Ideally that changes as time goes on.

However, the point remains. Everyone seems to complain about Girardi's lineups all the time. In this instance, it was 5 RHH in a row.

(other post pointed it out Gardner is LHH) Just want to add. The other point Joe G did was look at the numbers against the opposing pitcher. I think this is why we see Gardner leading off against Happ (300) but I do like seeing Gardy lead off opening day. We should see Hicks leading off against LHP a lot in the future.

With all due respect, this is fake news. Against lefty pitchers it was not uncommon for Joe to bat three righties in a row. Joe is gone, no need to make stuff up to justify his termination.

Even axisa took a stab at Girardis lineup construction on Twitter, saying he would have needlessly thrown a LHH between Judge and Stanton

Word is, Boone was going to put Bird between them. That's what they were saying on the tv anyways

I hope they don’t experiment with judge in the leadoff spot but if they do it better be followed by Stanton then Sanchez

I think Hicks is flying under the radar & will be a BEAST this year.
