did aggressiveness comes back to haunt him.. sometimes it's ok to be patient didi you don't have to swing at every pitch.. i see way to many balls get by didi on the infield so far this season...

What if Didi is just a flat out good hitter with no qualifiers nevessary? The ball is jumping off his bat over the past year or so, and the decision to hit him cleanup still is holding water.

I can't bring myself to buy into it because of the lack of patience, but what if he's just a plus hitter? Man.

Didn't you get the memo? Didi shouldn't bat higher then tenth in this lineup.

The new baseballs have definitely helped the less patient guys.

I made a post about how I think Didi is the best SS in the game, putting him above Carlos Correa. As good as Carlos is, they are a lot closer offensively than people think. In fact, Didi since 2015 has jumped 50 points in his OPS every season. Thoughts?

For the second time in his career and the first time since June 5, 2013 for Arizona, he was hit by two pitches.

If he stands even closer to home plate, he'll challenge Ron Hunt's record.

    Non-tendering Didi would be penny-wise and pound-foolish.

That's putting it mildly. Didi has been one of the best SS in the game during the last two years.

You don't relinquish that type of talent over a half-season worth of salary. Not when you've got Jacoby Ellsbury on your payroll.

You are referring to starting left fielder for 2019

Re: 2018 Didi Gregorius Performance Thread

Some aren't concerned that Didi will get paid $12M+ for about a 50-60 games. The majority of these recent posts just assume that the Yanks will keep Didi past 2019. So when does that get done? After the 2019 season? Or now? And doesn't it affect what they do to replace him until August?

Seems like if the organization wants to guarantee Didi will remain a Yankee, they shouldn't wait until he hits free agency - there needs to be a sense of urgency, don't you think? No one thought Cano would walk away. Letting Didi become a FA just increases the risk of losing him.

Does 5yrs/$100M right now (2019-2023) get it done? Or maybe a gentleman's agreement for 4yrs/$88M after the 2019 season?

Its his walk year. Unless he is extended, which the Yankees are loathe to do even with uninjured players that they like, they will be relinquishing control anyway.

Yankees should only sign Machado if it’s to play third base.

Definitely. 2019 is his final Arbitration year and he's a FA in 2020. He will probably get 13-15M this year and that stinks but happens, I do want to start talking now instead of waiting and we have no back up plan (like Cano) and make a decision. I definitely don't want Manny. I find it hard that anyone who watched the WS would ever want him and he is going to get a lot more than Didi. The one prospect I think about was losing Solak (sp?) for Drury and trading Drury for Happ and now probably losing Happ by not signing. My plan was Solak at 2nd and Torres at SS and Andújar at 3rd (Torreyes as utility). Like some of us we want own the Yankees and tell Brian what to do.

If Cashman is correct, he would be return in action between June and August. Return in action doesn't mean that he's ready in game shape. Take another one to two month for his rehab then you're paying him $10m only for September or postseason.
