did aggressiveness comes back to haunt him.. sometimes it's ok to be patient didi you don't have to swing at every pitch.. i see way to many balls get by didi on the infield so far this season...

What if Didi is just a flat out good hitter with no qualifiers nevessary? The ball is jumping off his bat over the past year or so, and the decision to hit him cleanup still is holding water.

I can't bring myself to buy into it because of the lack of patience, but what if he's just a plus hitter? Man.

Didn't you get the memo? Didi shouldn't bat higher then tenth in this lineup.

The new baseballs have definitely helped the less patient guys.

I made a post about how I think Didi is the best SS in the game, putting him above Carlos Correa. As good as Carlos is, they are a lot closer offensively than people think. In fact, Didi since 2015 has jumped 50 points in his OPS every season. Thoughts?

I love me some Didi, but there are quite a few SS I would take over him.

Correa, Lindor, Seager, and now Machado (assuming he's at least competent defensively, and he probably is) are all clearly better than him. Not that close, either.

He's in the next tier though with Trea Turner / Simmons.

I put him right up there w/ Correa and Lindor. I don't think the gap is as big as people think. The numbers show they are closer. Correa and Lindor are just bigger stars and Didi gets lost in the shuffle.

Not sure what numbers you are looking at. Both baseball reference and fangraphs show a pretty clear divide:

Correa would be even higher if he didn't miss 50 games last year (Did played 25 games more than him, even with his own injury)

Agreed. Before the season I figured do it after this season and see what he wants. Hard to do now as the AAV would count this season and hamper the efforts to stay under the $197 million if we want to add anyone in July.

Michael Kay said he broke the record for RBI in a home opener for any team.

He's the 12th Yankee since 1908 with at least 8 RBI in a game, and the first Yankee since A-Rod's 10 RBI game in 2005. The only Yankees to do that and win a World Series with us in or after 1996 are A-Rod, Williams (who did it in 1996), and O'Neill (who did it in 1995). The only Yankees to do it multiple times played a long time ago. Gehrig did it 3 times, George Selkirk did it twice, and DiMaggio did it twice. Ruth and Mantle had career highs of 7 RBI, and Jeter's was 5.

He became the sixth shortstop since 1908 with at least 8 RBI in a game, and the first one since Nomar Garciaparra in 2002. Garciaparra is the only shortstop to do it twice. Miguel Tejada, Cal Ripken Jr., Chris Speier, and Travis Jackson (for the Giants in 1923) also did it.

I don't come here much anymore. Don't be surprised if somebody asks for me and I don't respond.
