The issue at SWB is that they already have Mike Ford and Adam Lind at AAA, so how does he get ABs there other than DH.

BTW - Adam Lind is hitting pretty well, but it is the minors. I wonder if he has a drop dead date in this second deal he signed? I have to believe that Bird gets first chance to come back, but the idea of putting Lind at 1B pretty much full time is becoming more appetizing.
I read somewhere that the Yankees and Lind are a marriage of convenience and I think that is true. If he gets a ML opportunity elsewhere heís gone. If not and Bird continues his Nick Johnson impression he could help the Yankees at some point. I agree with you that Austin will likely be optioned unless he catches fire.
I'd like to thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankee fan

I wouldn't object if they waited until tomorrow.

With two days off there's really is no reason to rush him, let him get some reps in AAA to get in playing shape and prove he's healthy. Walker can hold down first adequately for a bit longer.

I'd like him in the lineup against Scherzer on Wednesday, so let's get him a game against Major League pitching on Tuesday.

    (my thinking, anywhoooo)

I bet we don't see Bird until Texas and it might be the Angels at home. By the way, the Yankees announced today that his rehab will continue at Trenton.
God, I love Yankee fans as they're never satisfied!

    Yes. This would be ideal.

You don't need 2 weeks of rehab games.

Looks like Bird isn't coming back this week as indicated earlier by Boone.

Boone said there's "a really good chance" RHP Tommy Kahnle will be ready to rejoin the Yankees Friday...said a decision regarding Bird should be coming "maybe a week from now."

Pure stupidity. He's ready now. Stop wasting at bats in the minors.
