    NY's Teenage Pitching Prospects

Since Cashman's new thing seems to be to deal 40 man roster casualties for super-young DSL pitchers (Rumbelow for Then and Cave for Gil), I thought it would be interesting to put together a list of teenage pitching prospects, roughly in order. This is obviously not definitive and I welcome any input, I am curious if Gil slots ahead of any of these guys:

    Luis Medina
    Matt Sauer
    Juan Then
    Deivi Garcia
    Nolan Martinez
    Roansy Contreras
Jhonatan Munoz (mentioned in the new BA prospect book)

That's an impressive list, am I missing anyone?

I disapprove of anyone named Jhonatan.

There are a lot of them if you google, it's almost as if English isn't every country's primary language.

Somehow I'm more bothered by "Roansy."

    Girardi must be the father.

Well, check out the 2017 DSL pitcher stats. Some of these kids hit the States last season but there’s a whole gaggle of 17-19 year olds left in inventory. If you want to be particular maybe focus on 1)K/9 of 8+; 2)LH pitchers. Those are couple of potentially promising markers. IMO.

Sorry, but that's not an excuse. It's even worse gibberish in Spanish.

OK, updating this, please let me know if I'm forgetting anyone. Turning 20 drops you off the list, but we still have an exciting set (not including the new international signings yet):

    Luis Medina
    Matt Sauer
    Roansy Contreras
    Deivi Garcia
    Juan Then
    Yoendrys Gomez
    Jhonatan Munoz

Luis Gil and Nolan Martinez both turned 20 in June.

Luis Rijo only has a couple months left but this is his year 19 and he just got promoted to Tampa.

Good call, will slot him in behind Contreras just based on the level.

    Matt Sauer
    Roansy Contreras
    Luis Rijo
    Deivi Garcia
    Juan Then
    Yoendrys Gomez
    Jhonatan Munoz

They're the next tier (or more) down at this point, but here are a couple to maybe keep an eye on.

2015 J2 signee Pedro Barrios is only in the low 90s according to 2080 baseball, but is off to a blazing start at 19 in the GCL.

Anderson Munoz is a 19 year old really small righty who was signed by the Twins in 2017, never pitched for them, released, pitched in the VWL, and picked up by the Yankees this April. He clearly struggles with walks, but his last two outings in the GCL have been crazy intriguing. 2080 Baseball has a video of him saying he's 94-95 (T96) with a curve and change.

    Anderson Munoz [Strong emoji] today.
    5 IP 2 BB 9K

came into today with 9 BB in 6.2
FB heavy 94-96. Attacks the zone downill
CB has spin but lackes feel/confidence.

Yankees Anderson Munoz. FB 93-95 CB 81 CH 88. Stiff front leg causes effort, 20 command. Lacks tempo and feel for the zone. Fast arm. Smaller frame. Projects as a bullpen guy. Doesn't trust off-speed. Flashes spin on the CB

That's what it's come to now? The Yankees are so well stocked we call the Jhonatan's of the world inventory now?

There's a small righty who pitched today in the DSL named Randy Vasquez who is 19. In his 5 appearances so far he's posted

    13.2 IP, 4 H, 6 BB, 18 K

I'd be curious to see if it's his stuff or deception/hitters.
