    It's in the CBA.

Article XIX - Sub section E.

But I'm not a lawyer so I may be interperting that rule wrong.

I don't see how that applies:

If a Player is optionally assigned for a total of less than 20 days in one championship season
    That's not what's happening here.

That's why I said I could be misunderstanding them. I always thought it applied to each optional assignment when a player is sent up an down in one season and that if you don't spend 20 consecutive days in the minors then it counts as MLB service time. But again I am not a lawyer or CBA expert.

Na. Doesn't work that way. Drury just needs whatever days he has left in the minors.

I think if he shows he's a competent RH compliment to Bird at 1B Walkers days are numbered.

And while Drury seems like a nice little player, he doesn't look like one where manipulating his service clock to gain an extra year of control is really going to be a make or break type thing.

Walker stopped making sense on this roster after Bird was called up.

Disagree. It's like 4-5 more days in the minors. Totally worth if you think there is upside there, and the Yankees clearly believe there is.

I've expressed before that the Walker signing never made sense regardless of the price tag. Just didn't fit the roster. Only reason why it looked smart in April/May was due to Bird having another surgery.
I'm guessing he's getting traded soon.

I like the idea of a Drury/Bird platoon. Drury can get his other ABs when Andujar/Torres rest. Or DH him when you want to sit Gardner against a Lefty.

Because he is stronger from the left side of the plate, the Walker/Bird platoon never made sense to me. Same think with the Wade/Walker platoon at 2B earlier in the season.

I hope we can trade Walker, because it would clear whatever he is still due off of the books for the CBT calculation. But, I fear we will not be so blessed and even wonder if he will get any bites from any other team.

So, we hear Drury's symptoms have only alleviated, not cleared up entirely.

An option is a yearly thing, not an individual up-and-down occurrence.

On tonight's broadcast, O'Neill was advocating that Bird should sit tomorrow rather than face Sale and Drury play 1B.

https://twitter.com/ColeyHarvey/stat...61227130851328 says he was demoted in between games of the doubleheader. He went 0-for-4 in Game 1 and is 3-for-22 with a .356 OPS since he was promoted.

So the team he gets dealt to in the next few weeks will get an extra year of control, nice.

Yep. I do feel this was the reason. May even help his trade value.

An extra year of control certainly helps his trade value.

Interesting question - if he were traded today, would the 10 days in the minors rule still apply?

Left the game tonight after a HBP on the left hand ... X rays negative, Boone says he is day to day.
