Re: 2018 New York Giants Thread

It appears to be a drop-off after Herbert. He's the prize QB in this draft. For me it's Herbert or bust. The more I hear, sounds like Lock is Jay Cutler. And the others like Finley, Haskins, and Grier while intriguing, aren't as highly ranked as Herbert.

Herbert compares favorable to the 2018 QB class.

I think the teams the Giants have to worry about for Herbert are, Raiders and Broncos. Raiders can opt out of that Carr contract after the season. Broncos likely finish behind the Giants. Elway was at Herbert's game last week. It's possible that he trades up for him. Unless the Giant get the number 1 pick.

The Cardinals will have the number 1 overall pick. imo The Giants will finish 2nd or 3rd.

If the Giants want him, they have to at least finish ahead of the Raiders. Raiders have some winnable games left... Colts, Cardinals, 49ers.

If I'm Gettleman, and this team is 1-7 after the Skins game, at the trade deadline, I'm trading off some vets for picks, so I have some ammunition for a trade up in April.

It's certainly not a good thing that this season has been reduced to rooting against teams we don't like, but that being the case, today went pretty well.

The giants did the right thing by not drafting a rookie and playing him because he’d likely be ruined by now

A rookie behind this line with Beckham would be a disaster

    Nate Solder, what a signing!

You know the Patriots have not missed him...
When will teams learn to stop signing Patriot players? Their coaching is excellent. That's what it's about.

Win now desperate moves, lead to bad contracts.

This couldn’t be a more stupidly run team, top to bottom.

Not that it matters, but going for 2 was moronic.

It's weird because a player that New England discards is by definition a player you don't want to sign. It's like they're doing teams a favor by telling them there's no upside but nobody ever listens

Reminds me of those old NJ Devil teams. Their players too, would sign with other teams and did absolutely nothing.

As a Ranger fan, Holik and Gomez ring a bell.

I think that's a smart move. Just didn't work out.

I think it's fine to sign their defensive players. But a big NO to their offensive players.

It was absolutely the right move. They convert it and the next TD wins the game.

The purging of former high first round picks rolls on.

@MikeGarafolo - Giants are trading CB Eli Apple to the #Saints, as @AdamSchefter said. His rocky tenure with the team is over.

ETA - for a 4th round pick in 2019 and 7th round pick in 2020.

Disagree. It's totally the right call to go for 2 in that situation. If you make it and hold a TD + extra point wins the game. If you miss and hold a TD and 2 PT convo still put the game into OT. NFL teams should make the 2 PT conversion well more than 50% of the time so statistically it is the right move when down 8.

I would agree with this for a good offensive team, not one that failed from the 1 four times.

Seems pointless to trade Apple at this point in the season for nothing picks. Doesn’t clear much salary
