The #13 ranked Syracuse Orange kept the Louisville Cardinals winless in ACC play after a 54-23 rout inside the Carrier Dome.

Bobby Petrino's men are 0-7 in ACC play and 2-8 overall while Dino Babers matches Syracuse's first two years as Orange head coach at 8-2 overall.

Syracuse had 326 rushing yards in the game. Moe Neal had 159 of them and two touchdowns on eight carries.

Syracuse Eric Dungey had 254 yards of total offense and was responsible for three touchdowns including two rushing.

The Syracuse defense had six sacks and four takeaways.

Meanwhile in the Smurf Turf, the #23 ranked Fresno State Bulldogs wasted their chance to extend their Mountain West West Division lead over the San Diego State Aztecs after the Boise State Broncos rallied from a 14-point deficit to grab a 24-17 victory.

Both Boise State and Fresno State are 8-2 overall and 5-1 in Mountain West play with two games remaining.

Fresno State QB Marcus McMaryion, who had 283 passing yards on 24 of 35 completions, found KeeSean Johnson from three yards out in the second quarter to give Jeff Tedford's team a 10-3 halftime lead.

Ronnie Rivers extended Fresno State's lead to 17-3 with a one-yard touchdown run a little over three minutes into the third quarter.

But Alexander Mattison and Brett Rypien helped the BSU Broncos score the final 21 points of the ballgame to grab the win.

Mattison scored a seven-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 17-10 heading into the fourth quarter and tied the game at 17 very early in the fourth quarter with a one-yard punch.

Rypien found Khalil Shakir from 49 yards out to give Boise State a 24-17 lead with 9:22 remaining as the Broncos hold on for a vital victory.

Mattison had 144 yards on the ground and two scores while Rypien completed 24 of 29 passes for 269 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Boise State had three sacks on McMaryion.

The #12 Central Florida Knights remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in American Athletic Conference play after beating the Navy Midshipmen, 35-24 to move one step closer towards clinching the AAC East Division title.

UCF QB McKenzie Milton had 262 yards of total offense and accounted for three touchdowns.

Dredrick Snelson caught both Milton touchdown passes.

UCF needs to beat the Cincinnati Bearcats next week to book a spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game as the AAC East Division winner.

Meanwhile in the Big Ten division races, the #10 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes push their record to 9-1 overall including 6-1 in Big Ten play after pulling away from the #18 ranked Michigan State Spartans, 26-6.

It was a 9-6 Buckeyes lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Dwayne Haskins completed 24 of 39 passes for 227 yards and a one-yard touchdown connection to Parris Campbell after the game was scoreless after the first quarter.

Michigan State kept in touch though with two field goals from Matt Coghlin, a 44-yarder before halftime and a 38-yarder with 5:35 to go in the third, as the Spartans trailed 7-6.

But the Ohio State had a safety to make it 9-6 after three and scored on a scoop-and-six early in the fourth quarter by Dre'Mont Jones taking a lost fumble into the house to make it 16-6 Ohio State.

Blake Haubeil kicked a 35-yard field goal and Mike Weber, who had 104 yards on the ground in the game, sealed the win with a two-yard touchdown run.

Brian Lewerke and Rocky Lombardi were both ineffective for Michigan State as they combined 18 for 48 completions for 220 yards and an interception from Lewerke.

Meanwhile, #20 ranked Penn State Nitany Lions gave the Northwestern Wildcats a chance to clinch the Big Ten West Division after beating the Wisconsin Badgers, 22-10.

Penn State QB Trace McSorley ties Todd Blackledge for the most wins by a Penn State QB with 29 after completing 19 of 25 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Miles Sanders added 159 rushing yards and a score.

The lone bright spot offensively for Wisconsin is their megastar RB Jonathan Taylor who had 185 yards and a touchdown as Paul Chryst's men really miss Alex Hornibrook.

Jack Coan was sacked five times and the Badgers had four takeaways.

Northwestern can clinch the Big Ten West if they beat the #21 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes.

#9 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers move to 8-1 overall including 6-1 in Big XII play after destroying the Texas Christian Horned Frogs, 47-10.

West Virginia QB Will Grier completed 25 of 39 passes for 343 yards and three touchdowns. Kennedy McKoy added two touchdown runs.

The West Virginia defense sacked TCU QB Michael Collins four times and had two takeaways.

Meanwhile, Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullens wanted his guys to compete after the Missouri Tigers embarrassed them inside the Swamp last week.

The #15 ranked team of the nation competed and rallied from a 17-point deficit to pull away from the South Carolina Gamecocks, 35-31.

South Carolina QB Jake Bentley threw for 239 yards and was responsible for three touchdowns as the Gamecocks had a 31-14 lead with 4:41 left in the third quarter.

    But Florida refuses to quit.

Feleipe Franks and Lamical Perine were the key cogs in Florida's rushing attack when the Gators had 367 of their 528 yards on the ground.

Franks had 197 yards of total offense and three total offensive touchdowns while Perine added 107 rushing yards and two majors on 16 carries.

Jordan Scarlett didn't find the end zone, but had 159 rushing yards where Florida denies South Carolina of bowl eligibility this week.

Pat Fitzgerald and the Northwestern Wildcats knocked two birds out with one stone this week.

Northwestern became bowl eligible and won the Big Ten West Division after escaping Iowa City's Kinnick Stadium with a 14-10 victory over the #22 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes.

Miguel Recinos scored the only points in the first half with a 46-yard field goal as Kirk Ferentz's Hawkeyes led 3-0 at halftime.

Isaiah Bowser, who had 165 yards on 34 carries in the game, scampered his way into the end zone from 34 yards out to give Northwestern their first lead at 7-3 with 9:19 left in the third.

But Iowa replied with Nate Stanley finding Ihmir Smith-Marsette from 28 yards out to give Iowa a 10-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Northwestern QB Clayton Thorson didn't have a good day throwing the football with two interceptions and had 122 passing yards, but found Bennett Skowronek from 12 yards out to give the Wildcats a 14-10 lead with 9:27 left in regulation.

Iowa had a chance to take the lead right back with a touchdown, but Ivory Kelly-Martin lost the ball as Cameron Ruiz recovered for Northwestern to seal the victory.

Iowa lost two fumbles in the loss.

Northwestern will await the winner of the Big Ten East Division which is a two-horse race.

The Ohio State Buckeyes won earlier. So did Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines.

The #4 ranked team in the nation vaporized the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 42-7 to go to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten play.

Shea Patterson completed 18 of 27 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

Karan Higdon added two touchdown runs.

The Wolverines will take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the final game of the season inside the Big House next week. The Hoosiers need a win to become bowl eligible while Michigan will want to have another successful tuneup before their Thanksgiving weekend showdown in Columbus against Ohio State.

The Southeastern Conference Championship Game combatants had success in their first of three tuneup games this week before their SEC title showdown inside Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 1.

The #1 ranked team in the nation, the Alabama Crimson Tide, pitched a 24-0 shutout over the #16 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 14 of 21 passes for 164 yards with a touchdown and his second interception thrown this season, but he had to leave the game with a banged up knee.

The Alabama rushing attack picked up the slack for the SEC West Division champions as Josh Jacobs had 194 total yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns.

Damien Harris added 53 on the ground and a score.

The Bama defense had five sacks on Nick Fitzgerald as Alabama hasn't allowed a single point in their last nine quarters.

Meanwhile inside Athen, Georgia's Samford Stadium, the SEC East Division champions and #5 ranked team in the nation Georgia Bulldogs thwarted their Old Deep South rivals and #24 ranked Auburn Tigers, 27-10.

Georgia QB Jake Fromm had 193 passing yards and two touchdowns as Georgia finished their SEC slate at 7-1 and go to 9-1 overall.

Jarrett Guarantano had 197 passing yards and two touchdowns and Tim Jordan added 63 yards on the ground and a major.

Kentucky QB Terry Wilson spoiled the Vols' shutout bid with a 19-yard strike to C.J. Conrad, but the Vols defense had five sacks and three takeaways.

Brian Kelly and the #3 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn't have Ian Book for their game against the Florida State Seminoles, but Brandon Wimbush had his best game as Notre Dame's starting quarterback in 2018 in their 42-13 rout in their last game for the season at Notre Dame Stadium.

With Book out due to an upper body injury, Wimbush picked up the slack with 130 yards passing and three touchdown throws despite throwing two interceptions.

Dexter Williams added 202 rushing yards and two scores on 20 carries as the Irish remain undefeated at 10-0 overall and will take on the Syracuse Orange in their Shamrock Series from Yankee Stadium next week.

Re: 2018 NCAA Division I FBS and FCS College Football Thread

The race for two spots in the Big XII Championship Game is a four-horse race.

The West Virginia Mountaineers have company as the Oklahoma Sooners, Iowa State Cyclones and the Texas Longhorns are separated by one game in Big XII play with two Big XII games remaining.

West Virginia destroyed the TCU Horned Frogs earlier.

Both the Cyclones and Longhorns will meet in Austin next week in a huge Big XII game.

Matt Campbell has his team bowl eligible as the #22 team in the nation doubled up the Baylor Bears in Ames, 28-14.

Iowa State QB Brock Purdy had 286 yards of total offense and two total offensive touchdowns in the victory as the Cyclones go to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in Big XII play.

Baylor QB Charlie Brewer had 288 passing yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort.

The only sour note for Campbell and the Cyclones is RB David Montgomery was ejected in the third quarter for his melee with Baylor's Greg Roberts.
    https://twitter.com/YahooSportsCFB/s...91009777627136

Meanwhile, Tom Herman's Longhorns also go to 5-2 in Big XII play and 7-3 overall after outlasting their Chancellor's Spurs rival Texas Tech Red Raiders in a thriller in Lubbock, 41-34.

The #19 ranked team in the nation trailed 7-0 after the first quarter as Jett Duffey, who filled in for the injured Alan Bowman, found T.J. Vasher from five yards out.

But Texas went on a 27-3 run to take a 27-10 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the second quarter, Cameron Dicker booted a 52-yard field goal while Sam Ehlinger connected with Lil'Jordan Humphrey from nine yards out and Keaontay Ingram, who had 83 yards rushing, punched in a two-yard run to help Texas outscore Texas Tech 17-3 and take a 17-10 halftime lead.

Texas outscored Texas Tech 10-0 in the third quarter as Ehlinger threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Devin Duvernay and Dicker kicked a 46-yard field goal to give Texas a 27-10 lead after three quarters.

Kliff Kingsbury's Red Raiders won't quit though as Duffey finds Antoine Wesley from 57 yards out to pull Texas Tech to within 10, 27-17 with 13:26 left in regulation.

The Ehlinger-Duvernay connection worked again as the lead was 34-17 Texas with 10:26 left after those two hooked up from 39 yards out.

But Texas Tech went on a 17-0 run to tie the game with 1:45 left.

Clayton Hatfield, who made a 41-yard field goal in the first half, booted his second field goal of the game from 36 yards out to make it 34-20 Texas with 6:32 left.

Then, Duffey found Vasher and Wesley again in the endzone in a span of 3:02 to tie the game at 34.

Duffey had 444 yards on 37 of 47 completions and four touchdowns, two each to Vasher and Wesley, in a losing effort despite throwing an interception.

Texas had time though and Ehlinger took advantage throwing his fourth touchdown of the game to Humphrey from 29 yards out to give Texas a 41-34 lead with 29 seconds left as the Longhorns had no heartbreak this time.

Ehlinger had 312 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.

Both Texas and Iowa State are 5-2 in Big XII play with their showdown next week in Austin. The winner of that game boost their chances for a spot in the Big XII title game with one week to go.

Meanwhile in Norman, Lincoln Riley and the #6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners had another high scoring thriller in the Bedlam series going their way.

The Sooners held on for a 48-47 victory over their Bedlam rivals, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, to go to 9-1 overall and tie West Virginia for top spot at 6-1 in Big XII play.

Trey Sermon helped OU draw first blood almost two minutes in with a one-yard touchdown run before Justice Hill replied for Mike Gundy's Cowboys with his own one-yard touchdown run a little over three minutes into the game tied at 7-7.

Kennedy Brooks gave OU the lead again at 14-7 with 9:06 remaining in the first with his one-yard touchdown run before Taylor Cornelius found Tyron Johnson from 31 yards out to complete a wild first quarter tied at 14-14.

In the second quarter, Austin Seibert kicked a 21-yard field goal to give OU a 17-14 lead 93 seconds in before Cornelius threw his second touchdown of the game to Tylan Wallace up the middle from 49 yards out to give Oklahoma State their first lead at 21-17 with 1:56 elapsed in the second quarter.

Oklahoma went on a 17-0 run however to take a 34-21 lead.

Brooks scored his second touchdown of the game with a 45-yard scamper and Seibert booted his second field goal of the game from 36 yards out.

Kyler Murray, who had 349 passing yards in the contest, capped off the run with a 51-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Brown as OU led 34-21 with 1:25 left in the first half.

But Oklahoma State steadied the ship to cut the deficit to six, 34-28, at halftime when Chuba Hubbard pounds his way into the end zone from 10 yards out.

Hubbard gave Oklahoma State a 35-34 lead with 7:32 left in the third quarter with a two-yard punch.

But Brooks replied for OU with a rushing hat trick at the buzzer from five yards out to end the third quarter with the Sooners up six, 41-35.

Brooks had 165 rushing yards and three scores in the thriller.

Hubbard replied with a rushing hat trick of his own to tie the game at 41. However, Oklahoma State kicker Matt Ammendola pulled his extra point wide left.

Hubbard had 104 and three scores in a losing effort.

OU took advantage as Sermon scored his second rushing major of the game from a yard out to give the Sooners a 48-41 lead with 3:29 left.

However, Cornelius drove the Cowboys down the field and found Wallace from 24 yards out to pull Oklahoma State to within one, 48-47 with 1:03 left.

A extra point would've tied the game at 48, but Gundy decided to roll the dice and go for two.

It backfired as Cornelius threw his pass incomplete.

Cornelius completed 34 of 53 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns including two to Wallace, who caught 10 balls for 220 yards for a heartbroken Oklahoma State.

So, West Virginia and Oklahoma are tied at 6-1 in Big XII play while Iowa State and Texas are 5-2 in Big XII play with two Big XII games remaining.

Iowa State and Texas play each other next week while West Virginia has to travel to Stillwater's Boone Pickens Stadium to take on the Cowboys and Oklahoma deals with the Kansas Jayhawks on Senior Day in Norman.

Iowa State has a win over West Virginia and a loss to Oklahoma. Texas has a win over Oklahoma and a loss to West Virginia while Oklahoma beat Iowa State and has a loss over Texas and faces West Virginia on Thanksgiving weekend in Morgantown.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are going to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game!

The #2 ranked team in the nation wins the ACC Atlantic Division after defeating the #17 ranked Boston College Eagles, 27-7 inside frigid Chestnut Hill.

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence completed 29 of 40 passes for 295 yards and had two total touchdowns.

The Clemson defense allowed 113 yards from the BC offense.

Clemson will await the winner of the ACC Coastal Division which is the Pittsburgh Panthers to lose since they are leading that division with a 5-1 mark in ACC play with the Virginia Cavaliers one game behind at 4-2, but Pitt has the head-to-head over Virginia at the moment.

BB55's Three Studs and Three Duds - College Football Week 11

    Three Studs
    1. Northwestern Wildcats
Why? Pat Fitzgerald, Clayton Thorson and company knocked out two birds with one stone in their trip in Iowa City against the #22 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes.

Northwestern became bowl eligible and Big Ten West Division champions after holding off Iowa.

The Wildcats can sit back and await the winner of the Big Ten East Division between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines in the Big Ten Conference Championship Game.

    2. Tennessee Volunteers
Why? Jeremy Pruitt has the Vols a win away from bowl eligible after knocking off the #11 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

    3. Alabama-Birmingham Blazers
Why? Bill Clark has done remarkable things since UAB's football program returned after a two-year hiatus in 2016.

In UAB's second season since the university reinstated their football program, the Blazers went 9-1 overall and clinched their first ever division title after beating the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles 26-23 in overtime to seal the Conference USA West Division.

    Three Duds
    1. Miami Hurricanes and USC Trojans
Why? Both the Miami Hurricanes and USC Trojans were major favorites to win their division titles and book a spot in their conference championship games.

However, both teams slumped and are setting at 5-5 overall needing a win in one of their final two games just to become bowl eligible.

Miami has a tougher task taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Pittsburgh Panthers with the ladder gunning for the ACC Coastal Division title.

As for USC, they have the UCLA Bruins in the Victory Bell rivalry game next week before taking on another rival, Notre Dame Fighting Irish who are gunning to seal their spot in the College Football Playoffs.

Looks like the time is up for both Mark Richt and Clay Helton.

    2. Colorado Buffaloes
Why? From starting their 2018 campaign at 5-0 to losing five straight games to be at 5-5 with two games remaining.

Like Miami and USC, Mike MacIntyre and the Buffs need a win in their final two games just to become bowl eligible.

Won't be easy for Colorado as the Buffs take on their Rocky Mountain rivals Utah Utes and the California Golden Bears who beat USC for the first time since 2003 and became bowl eligible for the first time since 2015.

    3. South Carolina Gamecocks
Why? Wil Muschamp and the Gamecocks had a 31-14 lead on the #15 ranked Florida Gators in their building and it looked like they're on their way to becoming bowl eligible.

However, the Gators didn't quit and used their running game to deny the Gamecocks their sixth win.

South Carolina still have three chances though to pick up their sixth win since their SEC slate is done.
