Mlb.com AL East Top 30 Prospects list is supposed to come out today. So far nothing.

The way they are releasing them can be a little confusing.

    http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=ana

The AL East was today, only if the organization isnít in their top 10 rankings.

They released Baltimore and Boston. They then tweeted out that all three of NY, Tb, and Toronto are in their top 10.

Evidently, Florial is now saying he's from the Dominican.

From my understanding, he was born in Haiti (hence the Haiti birth certificate) but he grew up in the DR. So though his birthplace is Haiti he still considers himself Dominican since that is where he was raised.

    Not according to that article:

He says that he's a citizen of Haiti (as well as the D.R.) because his mother was born there, and because of her, he does speak its language, Creole, along with Spanish and English.

He says that he was born and raised in Santo Domingo, D.R. which is an eight-hour drive from Haiti.

I was only a fan of his because he was Haitian. I don't care for him anymore.

What I do know as a fact is that he was pretty much raised in the DR all his life.

Solak and Widener for Drury? Why?

I know he has experience there, but that canít possibly be the long term plan- not enough bat.

Seems like a waste of his defense, too

Re: 2018 Yankees Minor League News & Notes

Ok, that makes no sense at all. Holder's calling card is his plus-plus defense at the most important defensive position, SS. If he's not at SS, his value plummets. The only way that he could be a regular in MLB is at short; I can't see him having enough bat to be a starter at a different position. It's also suppressing his best attribute by far. It's like having Steph on your team and having him play the post with his back to the basket.

In 2017, he played some 3rd as well as 2nd, but SS was still his primary position.

    2B - 121 innings
    3B - 202 innings
    SS - 522 innings

Re: 2018 Yankees Minor League News & Notes

They're trying to make him versatile for possible eventual use as utility infielder, but clearly his main asset is his defensive superiority at SS. I posted this elsewhere here yesterday but a year ago, MLB.com had Holder as the best defensive SS in the minors and one scout had to go back 30 years to find a comparison:

    =============================

"I haven't had more people rave about a prospect's defensive prowess to me since the days of Omar Vizquel coming up with Seattle," a second AL scouting official said. "I've had scouts say they look forward to watching Holder take pregame ground balls like they would watching a guy with 80 raw power take batting practice."

Don't know if it means much with the new rankings on the horizon, but pipeline updated their 2017 top 30 to remove Solak and Widener.

Glenn Otto and Deivi Garcia entered at #29 and #30.

Scranton is REALLY good. Could also see Wade down there at some point.
