    130 wRC+.

66th out of 198 qualifiers in MLB so far this year.

Literally in the top third of the league with his poor start.

He clearly needs to go. Just can't handle the pressure.

Tonight will be Stanton's 13th game of the young season. Through the first 13 games last season, he was hitting 98 wRC+.

It amuses me when people freak out this early in the season, especially for a player with Stanton's track record. Fans who have followed the sport for many years still get rattled and spooked with early season sample size.

It’s almost like you shouldn’t jump to conclusions after 10 games when a player has an awesome track record and is in his prime.

I think he should be booed as soon as he returns to New York again.

Next offseason, IMO, we should deal Stanton for a 1B + and sign Harper. Judge, Harper, Sanchez, Didi is a great 2-5.

How did he not get a hit tonight. He got hit. I guess that's a start of sorts.

you can tell he is pressing.. and getting wide strikes called on him is not helping.. but the power and ability is they:re last night first at bat he hit a deep drive clearly was going foul landed in the 5th deck in left field..

I worry about our starters and the bullpen. Have no worries about Stanton. Once it gets warm he will explode.

Agree. This type of start is typical for him. Check out the past three years through mid April:

    4/15/2015: .304 wOBA, 93 wRC+
    4/17/2016: .321 wOBA, 98 wRC+
    4/18/2017: .299 wOBA, 83 wRC+
    4/17/2018: .320 wOBA, 103 wRC+

He looks awful, but he'll be fine.

He needs to look awful in the 7 or 8 spot. Because his awful stinks up the 3 hole.

I absolutely hate that we boo him as Yankee fans...or really ANY Yankee. We need him to be good. It's been 3 weeks. Let's look at a larger scope of work.

Re: 2018 Giancarlo Stanton Performance Thread

If he's just off to a typical slow start, that's fine.
If it's just a slump he's going to break out of, also fine.
If he's pressing and he's eventually going to get comfortable, I'm OK with that too.

But if this turns into a full-blown case of "he can't handle New York" that's very very bad.

Not quite as bad, but still pretty bad, would be "he can't handle cold weather" because that's what he'll see in the playoffs.
