Sure, but I think the point was that even a guy like Reggie can get off to a bad start in NY. The article focused on Stantonís talent, which it said wonít be denied and as a result his time will come.

Your point is well taken that they could have come up with a better example.

Right, it's kind of, Reggie did it, so can the other guy. (Hence the "(kind of)" qualifier : )). Posted for the info. Cheers,

I'd consider sitting him against Eovaldi, and going with Gardner in his spot. I have more faith Gardner is capable of battling, and getting Eovaldi's pitch count up which will be vital.

All I see Giancarlo doing against Eovaldi is striking out OR hitting the ball very hard into the ground.

That said, it'll never happen, Gian will play, Prove me wrong Giancarlo.

For all the hate Giancoarlo seems to get he did hit 38 bombs and was Yankees 2nd best hitter this year behind Judge. Voit & Cutch were also better as Yankees but in too limited a sample.

Like Gary Sanchez, you don't bench Giancarlo Stanton. He has a chance to do what Sanchez did in game 2.

I was scanning OPS+ for the team on B-R.
Stanton at 126 was 2nd for anyone with 400+ PAs. Though I guess Andujar was tied at 126 and Hicks was at 123 not far behind.

Hey, hey. He grounded out, advancing Didi to third base ... with two outs.

He hit a solo homer in the WC game, when it was obvious they were going to win.

So odd when you look at his counting stats how empty his year was.

When he went deep twice on opening day, I thought the Yankees finally got an elite hitter that was going to put the fear of God in all opposing pitchers. That last at bat epitomized his season. A lost one.

Fortunately, I think this was him at his worst. I think heíll improve. A lot of changes this year for him.
