Doubt that. Thompson took Phillies bench coach job after he knew he was out of running.

Bam Bam would've taken the job if offered.

    Boone #1 choice.

Re: Report: Aaron Boone is the new manager

Well, it’s not who I expected out of the names I saw being considered , but congrats to Aaron Boone! I’m glad this was taken care of now. Was getting anxious about not having a manager and it taking this long. When Girardi was let go I expected a fairly quick hire because I thought they wouldn’t do it without a plan that was almost a sure thing. Girardi was a great manager and this could have blown up, badly.

Good luck Mr Boone! You just landed one of the most coveted jobs there is, and the expectations with this team’s success is pretty high.

I trust the judgment of Cashman. I am hopeful he will be the right choice for the job.

Let's watch how quickly Boone ages. For a young dude he may look like Torre by the end of 2018.

Eh, from the reports, Boone, along with Bam Bam and Beltran, interviewed extremely well. I definitely thought it would be one of these three, and from what I can gather, they were the last three candidates in the running.

#Yankees aren’t the only ones who liked Boone. #Mets would have considered him if Callaway hadn’t blown them away. Now he walks into a situation new managers rarely get with team loaded for a pennant run.

As @hankschulman reported, Hensley Meulens, who was a finalist for the Yankees' manager job, will remain as bench coach with the Giants. He won't be on Boone's staff.

oftentimes teams go the opposite route when making a managerial change. today the yankees hired someone who can really light up a room with his personality.

I am disappointed. Not that it is Boone, but that it is not Meulens. Interviews can be deceiving for many jobs. There has to be more risk when a guy does not have a track record. I sure hope it works out. He does seem like a smart guy, notwithstanding his awful voice.

And I still have a 1950s baseball card of his grandpa.

I have no issue with it at all, I just didn’t realize how serious his candidacy was. Yesterday I was becoming convinced Beltran was going to land it.

I'll always have a soft spot for Boone for that amazing homerun. I'm excited for him and the 2018 NYY. Football sucks and can't end fast enough for me. Can't wait for ST

I’m sure you’re correct about that but can’t find any info on him with Cleveland. Some MLB managers salaries aren’t reported. Mickey Callaway’s salary hasn’t been reported anywhere but is assuredly under 1mil.

Right. Thats why I said 2nd or 3rd. I will keep an open mind, but this better work out. There are going to be some high expectations, unlike last year.

Like a strobe light, I find him annoying. I just hope his response to “How does it feel to be manager of the NY Yankees?” isn’t “Oh man, its just stupid”.
