Fewest Career Wins Before Winning An ERA Title

Chris Sale and James Paxton are tied for the AL lead in ERA. Paxton started the year with 18 career wins. Has anybody won an ERA titled in a year he started with that few wins?

What might have been dept.: Ferdie Schupp had 1 career win before rocking a cool 0.90 ERA for the 1916 Giants ... but in only 140.1 innings, leaving him 13.2 innings short of qualifying for the title. Had he gotten those 13.2 innings, he could have allowed 12 earned runs in them and still had a 1.51 ERA, which would have placed him ahead of ERA title winner GC Alexander (1.55).

Who knows, maybe Ronald Reagan would have starred in the Ferdie Schupp biopic.

No chance. Ferdie was a lefty.

(Yeah I know, Reagan threw with that hand too)
