I have him on a dynasty fantasy team so I've kind of followed him loosely every year for the past 4 or 5 years. He's not a top-tier closer but hopefully he can become a solid 7th (or 8th ) inning guy.

Welcome back, someone dust off Sweet Home Alabama
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

did anyone see his interview after the game? i love it when players give obviously funny answers to obviously daft questions.

Always felt he was going to be back in pinstripes one day, only not this soon.

One of the good guys in the game. Also, props for what he says at the very end of this interview.

I don't know if anyone on here remembers this, but this still should be DRoB's entrance music.

I've been advocating for his return since early June when the blown saves started happening. I believe his acquisition solves the problem. I'd love to see Girardi stay away from blindly assigning roles now. He has enough options to really pay attention to matchups, game situations, and batting orders.

I don't think Robertson messed up last night. Cano hit a good pitch for a HR. That sob.

Should be the closer if such a role is still defined.

He got his seventh win to tie Toronto's Ryan Tepera and Baltimore's Mychal Givens for the most wins by an AL pitcher without any starts.

I'm glad he's not. I don't want him to only be allowed to pitch the 9th. I want him pitching when it's necessary.

Ha. I'll wait for a new manager before we get progressive thinking like that.

Pretty sure Terry Francona is universally praised for doing it with Andrew Miller.

Re: 2017 David Robertson Performance thread

I'd love to see Robertson start the 6th today, Dellin for the 7th & 8th, and Chapman closing it out.

Joe, please worry about tomorrow tomorrow.

Are they hiring Francona away from the Indians?

So we're supposed to just accept the status quo because most managers aren't progressive thinkers. That's what you've resorted to when defending Girardi, so I've had enough of this argument if that's what you're going to do.

Props to Joe though for actually bringing D-Rob in during the 5th inning the other night. It's something that seems to go against what Girardi usually does, which was a nice change. Hopefully things like this happen more often.

All I'm asking is that you provide an alternative, someone who does the things that Joe doesn't do. Francona isn't a realistic alternative.
