    First Time Visitor help!

    Morning All,

My (soon to be) Wife and I will be travelling to New York for our honeymoon in October and my first thought of course was to get tickets for a Yankees game.

Luckily we catch the last game of the regular season on 1st October.

Catch; we land at 12.55pm with the match kicking off (I'm British and I have no idea) at 3.05pm.

Now I'm not naive enough to think we're going to get there for the start of the game but how long do the gates stay open and will I be OK getting in?

If we were say an hour late, would it still be worth it for laymen to attend the game late?

Also from Times Sq. what would be the quickest route to Yankee Stadium?

    Appreciate any help in advance,

    Clueless Brit.

It is fine to show up late. As long as you have a ticket, they'll let you in. The games (baseball games are not referred to as "matches") usually last around three hours although they might play a little faster during the last game of the season.

From Times Square, take the subway ("D" line). It takes you directly to Yankee Stadium.

The "D" train is the one you want, but you catch it a block east of Times Square, at Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) and 42nd Street.

Good luck, may your plane land on time!

Nice clarification. I was referring to the Times Square vicinity not the actual Times Square station but our Brit friend undoubtedly requires precision.

    Morning Again All,

Thank you so much for the help, it's really appreciated.

Yeah we have our tickets at the front of block 424 - I appreciate it's high in the stands but as we'll only be catching a certain amount of the game our budget wasn't the greatest.

We're expecting to be about an hour late to the game what with immigration, baggage and travelling to and from the Stadium. I'm sure it'll be a great day regardless.

Any other hints/tips that you can think of?

Geordie, where are you flying into? JFK? LG? Newark?
