    Soccer Clubs Thread

There's a topic for the World Cup. I decided to start a topic for clubs. You can post about clubs from any country in any competition (domestic or a champions league), players changing clubs, and when matchups are made for a tournament. Every club in the 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League and its qualifying rounds is known except for the Polish champion, who will be decided on Sunday. The Group Stage will have 32 clubs. 10 of them come from qualifying rounds, and the 22 known clubs are:

    Real Madrid
    Chelsea
    Bayern Munich
    Juventus
    Benfica
    AS Monaco
    Spartak Moscow
    Shakhtar Donetsk
    Barcelona
    Atletico Madrid
    Paris Saint-Germain
    Borussia Dortmund
    Manchester City
    Porto
    Manchester United
    Tottenham
    Basel
    Anderlecht
    AS Roma
    Besiktas
    Feyenoord
Red Bull Leipzig (Leipzig is in Germany and they are owned by Red Bull who owns the New York Red Bulls in MLS)

Tonight CONCACAF held the draw for the 2017 CONCACAF League. The CONCACAF League has four rounds of two leg series, with the winner advancing to the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. The 2018 CONCACAF Champions League will have 16 clubs, of which 15 are known, and the United States and Mexico have 4 each. The CONCACAF Champions League has changed formats and will have the same format as the CONCACAF League. The Group Stage has been eliminated. Here is the 2017 CONCACAF League bracket:

Round of 16: The club listed first hosts the second leg

    1. San Juan Jabloteh (Trinidad and Tobago) vs. Santos de Guápiles (Costa Rica)
    2. Honduras Progreso (Honduras) vs. Chorrillo FC (Panama)
    3. Árabe Unido (Panama) vs. Central FC (Trinidad and Tobago)
    4. Real Estelí (Nicaragua) vs. Águila (El Salvador)
    5. LD Alajuelense (Costa Rica) vs. Olimpia (Honduras)
    6. Alianza (El Salvador) vs. Platense (Honduras)
    7. Plaza Amador (Panama) vs. Portmore United (Jamaica)
    8. Belmopan Bandits (Belize) vs. Walter Ferretti (Nicaragua)

Quarterfinals: The winners of odd-numbered series host the second leg

    Series 1 vs. Series 2
    Series 3 vs. Series 4
    Series 5 vs. Series 6
    Series 7 vs. Series 8

Semifinals: Which club hosts which leg has not been decided

    Series 1 or 2 vs. Series 3 or 4
    Series 5 or 6 vs. Series 7 or 8

Final: Which club hosts which leg has not been decided

Guatemala is suspended by FIFA, so they don't have any clubs playing in it.

Real Madrid and Juventus will play in the UEFA Champions League Final on Fox on Saturday at 2:45 P.M. with coverage beginning at 2:00 P.M.

Major League Soccer (MLS) has 4 games tonight including NYCFC hosting New England. MLS is up to 22 clubs. Each club plays 34 games, and before today every club has played 11 to 14 games. Tonight North American Soccer League (NASL), United Soccer League (USL), and amateur clubs are competing in the Third Round of the 2017 U.S. Open Cup. Tonight's winners will face MLS clubs in the Fourth Round. The U.S. Open Cup has been played for over 100 years including when there wasn't a professional soccer league.

Some of the top clubs will play friendlies in the United States this summer.

    Re: Soccer Clubs Thread

It's decision time for the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final.

Will Real Madrid win their 12th UEFA European Cup title and be the first team in the UEFA Champions League era to successfully defend the UEFA European Cup since AC Milan did it in 1990?

Or will Juventus win their third UEFA European Cup and their first since denying Ajax Amsterdam's repeat bid in 1996?

These are the key battles that will decide the UEFA Champions League title inside Cardiff's Millennium Stadium:

    1. The midfield trenches
Why? Miralem Pjanic and the Juventus midfield need to keep the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric at bay. If Pjanic and the Juve midfield thwart Kroos' and Modric's passing games and string their own passes together, it will make Real Madrid chase for possession especially Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo.

    2. The aerial battles especially set pieces
Why? People talk about Real Madrid aerialists with the likes of Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, but Juventus is not that far behind where Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian striker Mandzukic can be a hand full for the Real Madrid defense.

    3. Something's gotta give
Why? With two teams trying to make or change history, something's gotta give.

Prediction: The 2017 UEFA Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Juventus could have the makings of a instant and possibly a legendary classic.

I think this will be a chess match in the first 20-25 minutes or so and then it will gather some steam with both sides scoring at least once.

I say this will go to extra time with both teams scoring another goal to force penalties and I think Real Madrid takes it with Ronaldo scoring the glory penalty.

Juventus 2-2 Real Madrid after extra time; Real Madrid wins 5-4 in penalties.

A pulsating first half in Cardiff, Wales' Millennium Stadium in the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final.

Juventus and Real Madrid are tied 1-1.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 20th minute after firing a Daniel Carvajal pass into the back of the net from the center of the box off a deflection from Leonardo Bonucci.

However, Juve leveled the match seven minutes later as Mario Mandzukic struck an overhead past Keylor Navas.

Shots are 8-5 in favor of Juve and 4-1 on target with Navas having three saves.

Real Madrid has a 54%-46% edge in possession.

Real Madrid has two yellow cards from Sergio Ramos in the 31st minute and Daniel Carvajal in the 42nd minute.

Paulo Dybala had a booking for the Old Lady in the 12th minute.

What will happen in the second half?

GOAL! Real Madrid takes the lead again!

It was all Real Madrid in the first 15 minutes and Casemiro unleashed a cannon from outside the box that was deflected past Gianluigi Buffon in the 61st minute.

GOAL! Real Madrid is up by a deuce!

Another turnover springs Luka Modric free on the right hand side off a Daniel Carvajal pass and fed an absolute dart to Cristiano Ronaldo for his second of the game.

Two goals in three minutes and Real Madrid moves another step closer to their 12th UEFA European Cup title.

    GOAL! Real Madrid has four!

Marco Asensio the substitute puts the cherry on the top after Marcelo gobbled up the blocked free kick from Cristiano Ronaldo and dished it to Asensio.

It's a rout. Total vaporization from Los Blancos in the second half.

    FULL TIME!

For the fourth straight year, a Spanish Primera Liga side has won the UEFA European Cup/Champions League title.

It's Real Madrid who made more history with their 12th European Cup triumph in Cardiff as they became the first team to win back-to-back European Cups in the UEFA Champions League era and the first since AC Milan in 1990 after a total second half romp against Juventus in a 4-1 victory!

Cristiano Ronaldo led the way with two goals but it was Casemiro's laser beam from outside the box that scored the critical goal of the match.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n1OYM-GnnA

Marco Asensio added a Real Madrid fourth in the rout as Juventus was totally shut down.

Real Madrid will take on UEFA Cup/Europa League titleholders Manchester United in the 2017 UEFA Super Cup and booked a spot in the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup.

    Re: Soccer Clubs Thread

The New York Red Bulls won 1-0 at New England to advance to the U.S. Open Cup Semifinals. They will go to Miami or Cincinnati, whose Quarterfinal on Wednesday was postponed due to rain. Miami and Cincinnati are in leagues below MLS. If the Red Bulls and San Jose are in the Final, the Red Bulls will host it on September 20. If Sporting Kansas City beats San Jose, Sporting Kansas City will host the Final regardless of whether they face the Red Bulls, Miami, or Cincinnati.

The UEFA Champions League and Europa League are in Qualifying Round 2. In Europa League Qualifying Round 1, Rangers of Scotland were eliminated by Progrès Niederkorn of Luxembourg. In Champions League Qualifying Round 2, Ludogorets Razgrad of Bulgaria lost 2-1 at Zalgiris Vilnius of Lithuania and BATE Borisov of Belarus had a 1-1 draw hosting Alashkert of Armenia. The second legs are Tuesday and Wednesday for the Champions League and Thursday for the Europa League.
