The last line is wrong. Portland won 2-1 hosting Seattle, Last night, Seattle scored in the 93rd minute to go down 2-1 and tie the aggregate at 3. Each club scored once in extra time, so if what you said was true, Portland would have won on away goals after extra time. Portland won in penalty kicks. I don't think away goals should count in extra time because the clubs played a different amount of time away, and I'm happy MLS agrees with me. As a Red Bulls fan, I'm happy that if they lead 1-0 after regulation and both clubs score the same amount in extra time, the Red Bulls won't be eliminated on away goals in extra time.

Oh, I thought it was like Europe and FIFA rules in regards to away goals. I found the rules, MLS style.

Why? When you posted, it was known that the Red Bulls and Atlanta would host MLS Cup if they reach it, and now that they're the final two in the East, MLS Cup will be played in the East.

Barcelona leads La Liga by 1 point over three clubs, including Atletico Madrid who hosts Barcelona next. Barcelona lost 4-3 hosting Real Betis.

Edit: It was the first time in 297 La Liga home games that Barcelona allowed 4 goals.

    Re: Soccer Clubs Thread

The New York Red Bulls had the best record at home during MLS play with a 14-2-1 mark.

However, Bradley Wright-Phillips and company have to beat the best road team in MLS play in Josef Martinez and Atlanta United FC, who had 10 wins away from Mercedes-Benz Stadium during the regular season and have one in the MLS Cup playoffs against New York City FC, by four clear goals inside Red Bull Arena in the second leg.

The defending MLS Supporters' Shield winners lost the first leg in Atlanta, 3-0 behind Martinez's second goal of the playoffs and Franco Escobar added a goal and assist.

Atlanta United FC need a win, a draw or a loss by three-goals with a scoreline of 4-1 or greater to punch their ticket to their first ever MLS Cup Final.

Meanwhile in the Western Conference Finals, the Portland Timbers and Sporting Kansas City played to a goalless stalemate in Portland and travel to the Blue Hell with everything to play for.

SKC needs a win while a win or a score draw of 1-1 or greater will help the Timbers.

    Re: Soccer Clubs Thread

BB55's Primer and Pick - 2018 MLS Cup Final: Portland Timbers @ Atlanta United

BB55's Primer: The Portland Timbers are gunning for their second MLS Cup title in their history and they have confidence in winning three road games including one against their Cascadia Cup rivals, the Seattle Sounders, via penalties.

However, Giovanni Savarese and the Timbers will face their toughest test yet against Atlanta United who had the second most points in MLS play this season with 69 and are led by their livewire Venezuelan strike Josef Martinez and a manager who is coaching his final game with the club in Tata Martino.

Key matchups: There are two key matchups to watch in the 2018 MLS Cup Final.

One is seeing Martinez along with Ezequiel Barco and Hector Villalba using their pace and playmaking ability to test Liam Ridgewell and the Timbers backline.

The Timbers will have their hands full in countering Atlanta's deep weapons up front.

But the Timbers arguably have the edge in midfield led by their stalwarts Diego Valeri and Sebastian Blanco who have willed their team into the final.

Prediction: Atlanta United will surely be heavy favorites to win their first MLS Cup title in their second year of existence.

However, the longer the Timbers stick around inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the better their chances.

These are two well-coached teams and it's a tough game to call.

I think this game will go into penalties and I'll pick the underdog Timbers to outlast Atlanta United, 4-2 in penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

    BB55's Pick: Atlanta United 1-1 a.e.t. (2-4p) Portland Timbers

GOAL! Atlanta United draws first blood!

Guess who? Josef Martinez opens the scoring in the 39th minute and the Atlanta United FC supporters are going wild inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The livewire Venezuelan striker scored his 35th goal of the season in all competitions.

    HT inside Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Josef Martinez scored his 35th goal in all competitions to put Atlanta United in front of the Portland Timbers, 1-0.

Atlanta outshot Portland 4-2 including 2-1 on target after the first 45 minutes.

Will Atlanta send Tata Martino off with a title or will Giovanni Savarese and the Timbers mount a comeback in the second half?

    FT from Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Atlanta United FC are the 2018 MLS Cup champions!

What a send off for Tata Martino in his final game in charge and what a year as ATL blanked the Portland Timbers, 2-0.

Josef Martinez, the MLS MVP and probably the MLS Cup MVP, had a goal and assist tonight as Atlanta United FC brings Hotlanta their first major title since the Atlanta Braves won the 1995 MLB World Series.

Nothing to be ashamed of for the Portland Timbers who made it to the MLS Cup Final as a fifth seed in the tough Western Conference.

Only a loss to Toronto FC prevented Atlanta United from winning both the MLS Cup and the MLS Supporters' Shield, but what a season for Arthur Blank and Atlanta United FC.

Atlanta United FC was the 16th different Major League Soccer team to reach the MLS Cup Final.

With their title in 2018, Atlanta United FC is the 13th different MLS side to win the MLS Cup.

The New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas made a MLS Cup Final, but have yet to win it all.

Meanwhile, the Montreal Impact, New York City FC, Orlando City SC, Philadelphia Union, Los Angeles FC, Minnesota United FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps are the current clubs that have yet to make a MLS Cup Final.

Tampa Bay Mutiny, Miami Fusion and Chivas USA didn't make a single MLS Cup final and are defunct.

Atlanta had already qualified for the Concacaf Champions League. The New York Red Bulls qualified for the Concacaf Champions League, whereas Portland would have qualified instead if they won MLS Cup. The Concacaf Champions League starts in February, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_C...ampions_League has information about it.

In the regular season, Atlanta had the highest average attendance by a soccer club outside Europe. The Top 50 attendances had 41 clubs in Europe, Atlanta, Seattle, two clubs in Brazil, two clubs in Argentina, two clubs in China, and one club in Mexico.
