**Who are your favorite Yankees announcers?

**Who are your favorite Yankees announcers?

You can include both TV and radio in picking your favorite. Also, if you wish, you can include your LEAST favorite!

    My favorites:

    1) David Cone--down to earth, articulate, exceedingly knowledgeable--an ex-SUPER ballplayer.

    2) Al Leiter---just think he's a cool guy and I love his experience as a pitcher.

LEAST favorite: Paul O'Neill. Was obviously a great Yankees player in his day, but as an announcer, nope do NOT like. For one thing, notice how many times he'll start a sentence with "Ya know it's funny, but.........." Sorry Paul, it's NOT funny! Also, can never forgive his sophomoric behavior in kicking things in the dugout. Just very "Non-Yankee!"

Then take a hike and don't waste your valuable time participating in it. And don't bother to read it either.

    Singleton, O'Neill, Cone, and Leiter.

Not a fan of Kay, but I enjoy the banter between him and O'Neill.

    Paulie's my favorite... Cone second.

I can't stand Singleton and Kay definitely gets on my nerves after a while.

The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

I like Cone, Leiter, and Singleton best. Bob Lorenz is enjoyable the few times a year he's in the booth.

I despise Michael Kay. The absolute worst in MLB

Honorable mention to Meredith, I think anybody could do her job.

I grew up listening to Rizzuto also. He was great.

Cone is still king of the booth. I'm actually sad when he's not announcing. It's like looking at a lineup without Judge.

Jerry Coleman was good too. Was not really a fan of Red Barber. And I only remember listening to Mel a few times when I was young. Not sure Mel and Red were on the air at the same time. I think when one was on TV the other was on the radio side.]

Wasn't there a Joe Garagiola, Phil Rizzuto, and Jerry Coleman team for a while in the mid 60s??

Yes, Joe Garagiola replaced Mel Allen and announced Yankees games from 1965-1967. He was replaced by Frank Messer in 1968. When Rizzuto and Garagiola worked together it was something to hear them compare stories. The Yankees turned a triple play in 1967 and Garagiola told Phil he was once involved in a triple play where no one hit the ball! Phil was speechless but Joe explained how it happened. Ironically about 20 years later the Yankees were involved in a triple play where no one hit the ball.
