Obviously, my observations are a generalization - there are still power pitchers who rely heavily on their legs, but it's no longer the rule as it used to be. As Bill Marsh also mentioned, pitching mechanics have changed dramatically in the past 20-30 years. Wind ups are much shorter and more compact, and that usually means less drive off the legs.

Another outstanding performance by our stud reliever.

Since the AS break, Sevy has a 0.69 ERA. If Sale wasn't have a ridiculous season, Sevy would probably be in contention for the Cy Young.

If I'm Cashman, I really go hard after Pedro to take over as pitching coach next year.
I'd love to see what he can do with the rest of the staff.

Meh, were Yankee fans up in arms for Mo showing Roy Halladay his cutter grip at the All-Star break years back.

gonna keep saying it: the CU is the key.

i wish every pitcher in the ML were taught and pushed to use a CU early on.

He began his career with the Dodgers and ended it with the Phillies. Boston does not own Pedro.

Historically, Sale hasn't been a strong finisher with an ERA about 1/2 run higher in the second half than in the first. He took a beating last time out, so he may be tiring. There's still hope.

Would be nice to see him slowly reduce slider usage in favor of the change, assuming it continues to be an effective pitch.

I don't think Felix would have hung around this long if he didn't take his 10% changeup/25% slider repertoire and gradually get it to 25% changeup/<10% slider usage.

Not a good start from him today. Didn't have the slider working.

Hopefully he realizes walking the 8 and 9 hitters is a bad idea.

I really thought that Severino was going to come up big today. Nothing more disappointing than laying a big egg like he did today. Bad location and going after the bottom of the order with his third best pitch. Just a horrible game all around.

The sequence to Vazquez in the third inning was so bad - really cost us the game. He thought he was in ST in that AB and was trying to throw the kitchen sink at this guy.

he gave up 10 runs. 8 were unearned. he wasn't to blame for another three (at least). stat line looks way worse than he pitched.

I didn't see the game, but the box score says 8 were earned. Was that what you meant?

He gave up 2 3 run homers. He didn't have it at all today. His stat line shows the story of the game for him.

Strange game from Severino. The defense did not hurt, but young pitchers have to learn to raise their game when that happens.

Sometimes you have to tip your cap and Benintendi beat him like a drum today, my God. He's now 6/11 career off Severino.

Did not get to see the game, possibly too amped?? Big game, after a huge win last night, against heated rival, mix in young pitcher.

    Not concerned.

Really think the entire outing looks completely different if Frazier makes that DP like he should have instead of booting the ball.
