I'm not a huge proponent of trading for Quintana because I think the prospect cost will be too high but I would trust him over any of our current starters in a playoff game.

VERY silly IMO. Which team isn't dependent on their two best starters? Tanaka should eventually get his act together. Only a matter of time.

Not at all. They happen. They're a problem if they become a trend.

There's only so many OF spots.
We should probably sign Harper before we start dealing off high end prospects to make room for him...

The point I'm getting at is that you're talking about a very small sample of his his pitching as if there's a significant pattern when 10 starts is too few to determine patterns.
What if you deduct his two best starts? You are what you are.

Trade Headley for a bag of peanuts and bring up Torres. Just get him off this team.

How long is left on Chase and Jacoby's contracts respectively?
I know they say that when you dream you eventually wake up. Well, for some reason, Ive never had to wake up.

Ha ha, I actually looked it up before you asked that, because I was wondering the same. Headley has another season left. I can live with that because he's movable.

Ellsbury is signed through '20. But I braced myself for the horrors of that contract before the ink was dry.

You're right, but you're missing my point.

I was recently responding to a post that referenced "the way Quintana has been pitching." The fact is that Quintana hasn't been pitching with consistently bad results as that comment and others are claiming. In a small sample size, a couple of particularly bad starts had a disproportionately inflationary impact on his numbers. Otherwise he's been doing what he's always done. If he pitches true to past form for the rest of the season, the impact of those 2 starts on his numbers for a full season will be considerably less over 32-33 starts and 200+ innings.

    Yuck,

Off load Headley before the trade deadline this year.
See if we can eat some of Jacoby's contract and off load in the off season?

of course, I'm just saying, if they have plans to sign Harper, not every OF we will be able to keep when the time comes.

I just think it's way too early to say. For all we know, Washington finds a way to resign him. I'm more concerned with seeing what these guys are, and making sure we hang on to the right ones.
