uh if frazier fixes his problems he might become a 4 win player if lucky.

harper is a 10 win player by his bat alone.

harper is basically peak barry bonds atm with lower walks
    always reasonable

curious to know how you come to that conclusion

because most prospects in the top 10 don't ever reach that level of play. frazier is still pretty aggressive and projects, optimistically, as a 125 wrc+ type hitter with average defense.

    that's generously a 4 win type player
    always reasonable

Get both. Payroll will be low by that time.

Okay. So if I'm understanding this correctly those numbers if they reached translate to a certain WAR

that is the scouting convention, future value grades.

frazier is between 55-60. 55 is solid regular, 60 above avg, 65 all star.

war value for 55-65 range is roughly 2.5-4.5

I think we are going to sign Harper. My thought is it wise to tie up 300 plus mill in an outfielder when we are Knee deep in that area? Yes, Harper is a special player but would that money be better spent on pitching going forward? We don't have a cap but the LT might as well be called such.

I'm not sure how this became the Frazier thread, but -- speaking as someone who is not paying attention to the minors -- can someone explain why anyone in their right mind would reach conclusions about his upside, or his current value, based on a couple of weeks of at-bats?

If Harper repeats his 2015 season, this year and next, he'll cost 400+. Yankees are a star struck franchise. So I definitely believe they go after him.
A lot fans want Machado too. I don't believe they will sign both.

I think long term we're looking at Torres at 3B.

I don't like Frazier as a person. His tweet at Harper still bugs me. He is in no position to openly tweet at another teams player to join him in a future Yankee outfielder. You are a nobody Clint. Master AAA and get a call up first.

I'd hardly say there's hate on this board. After the trade deadline, the forumers here ranked him as the #1 prospect in the organization.

Yeah I get the 20-80. Just wasn't sure on the war conversions. Not a sabermetrics guy. Personally I think they stink

this is not a sabermetrics thing, it's a scouting tradition that has a quantification slapped onto it

Lol trust me I know the 20-80 isn't sabermetrics. But the The wins conversion is. To me that's something you can't quantify. If your telling me that that the conversion is something that's been around since before sabermetrics, that's something I wasn't aware of

Rather see Torres at 2B and Machado at 3B. Or possibly Andujar at 3B.
