    2017 Binder Performance Thread

So badly wants that LRLRL lineup that he had to shoehorn Ellsbury into the 5th slot. You, stupid, stupid man.

So you don't recognize the brilliance of the dual line-up, with Ellsbury as bottom half lead-off, and Judge as bottom half clean-up? Girardi is a GENIUS!™

said this in the game thread: getting ellsbury out of the top of the lineup is a step in the right direction.

It's only 4/3 and Binder is already resting all 25 of his guys today. Curses!

Those Monday-off lineups are always like this. He'll never change.

I'm generally not one to complain about the batting order but batting Ellsbury 5th just seems like a really dumb idea.

If he benches Bird over the lefty-lefty matchup then, well, I don't know what to say.

Maybe he was trying to get everybody in before the off day. Can't afford to let the players get too much rest.

It's taken some time. But I just want to say that I have finally started to refer to Girardi as Binder. It slipped out at work today. I resisted. I'm not sure if I just acclimated to it or I made a conscience decision but here I am. That's all.

Happily the move never happened but Giraldi had Clippard up in the pen in the seventh. So even with a rested pen Joe still has Clippard ahead of Warren in the pecking order. Will anything ever make Joe see that Clippard should not be the first guy in before the 8th inning in a tight game?

Yup. I was getting nauseous. Thank God Torreyes made that play in the hole, otherwise Severino probably ends up getting pulled and ends the night with a no-decision after we get close-up shots of Clippard's cringey face and rec specs.

That's not the point. Righty on the mound, first and third and Carter still gets another AB resulting in another DP. Yankees could have scored more runs. Plus Bird a better defensive first baseman. So wouldn't you rather have Bird out there in the ninth for defense.

With Didi returning if Torreyes can play 1B I would rather see him play if Bird is rested against a lefty than Carter.

Not a fan of Hicks, but you need to keep the bat in the lineup. Stop sitting him ya dingus.

I was curious about that as well as that seemed to be the obvious move to make. It was still a tight game and Bird clearly is the better glove so why Carter was kept in the game at that point is a mystery.

While I would have made the switch, the 2017 binder says Carter has a better chance of a hit. Defensively I haven't seen enough of Bird to call him a good fielder although there's a lot of time for him to improve. He's certainly no Tex. Carter looks a little stiff out there but he did make all the plays last night.

That was almost certainly the most interesting thing Girardi's done as manager.

Wasn't there some game in KC with a threat of rain and he started a relief pitcher once to save the starter for after the rain delay?
