Maybe he was just thinking too much. Wanted to have a good approach, took too many pitches and ended up second guessing.

Re: The Official 2017 GREG BIRD Thread

Following an outstanding spring, Bird began the night 1 for 26 this season and hitless in his past 20 at-bats. But Girardi said before the game he saw some good signs Saturday and was committed to keeping the promising young slugger in the lineup.

"My timing was messed up," said Bird, who went 3 for 3 with a double and a walk. "Tonight, I really just tried to simplify and swing at strikes."

Nah, the point it he obviously can hit a FB cause he wouldn't be in the majors if he couldn't.
The quote in my sig also came from you. lol I guess you missed his 2015 campaign and ST this year.
His timing was simply off and he needed to make an adjustment.

I agree with the overall trash part, but I think the pitch Wainwright threw on the HR was actually a good pitch. It was a 90.2 sinker/2 seamer w/ good movement painted on the inside corner. Bird just brought his hands in and murdered it.

Big for Bird. Waino being trash or not, Birds timing was off and not hitting trash pitchers before this. The kid can hit....Once he gets it going he'll be fine. He's just following int he footsteps of slow 1b starters like Tino, Giambi, and Tex

Agreed. That wasn't some bp fastball he tattooed.

Yeah, but lucky for Bird, the pitch moved right into the path of his bat. Otherwise, it would have been yet another swing and miss.

MLB should make an exception for Judge to use roids because come on, we're all curious.

If Flaherty can pick up that he's late on his leg kick, why can't Thames? I don't get it. His issue is pretty obvious.
