You could actually condemn the garbage rather than saying nonsense like this, too. That would be nice.

In what aspect is it tougher to be a white woman than a white man?

Thank goodness the Republicans didn't dump the Affordable Care Act.
As part of the Affordable Care Act, restaurants with 20 or more locations will soon have to post signs indicating calorie counts for every item and every variation of an item on the menu. If you are Domino’s Pizza, this regulation could get onerous. There are something like 34 million possible ways to order a pizza at Domino’s, according to Domino’s. An executive estimated the signage would set back franchisees several thousand dollars per establishment.

We have to pass the bill so we can learn what's in the bill.

I guess the Act will make us all healthier because it will force fast food establishments to raise their prices to pay for compliance with something we don't need, don't want, and won't pay any attention to.

"But what people tend to forget...is that being a Yankee is as much about character as it is about performance; as much about who you are as what you do."

So the solution is to make it worse as their "plan" will so the rich get a nice tax cut?

NYC has required this for nearly a decade. Lots of other places already have it in place as well. I don't know that it accomplishes much but I don't see that it's that burdensome either. It's for chains that have 20 or more locations not struggling mom and pop diners.

As someone who struggled with weight I appreciate it. But in junk food nation where 1 in 3 (by 2050 the estimate is 1 in 2) are obese I can see why some would love to keep living in oblivion with skyrocketing related diseases such as diabetes which leads to organ failure among other chronic conditions. Yes bad idea to try to educate us! Who needs facts or science!

This isn't already required? weird I see it on the menu of every chain in CA.

If it's a burrito there is usually some useless range like 800 - 1400 calories (you know depending on what you add inside).

I wouldn't say that I need it but I want it and pay attention to it.

I don't know the rule but it would be silly if they have to list every variation. I think they could propose that they list the nutritional info for a cheese pizza and then list the nutritional info for every topping so people could add up the total nutritional info for their chosen variety.

No ‘Death Spiral’: Insurers May Soon Profit From Obamacare Plans, Analysis Finds

In contrast to the dire pronouncements from President Trump and other Republicans, the demise of the individual insurance market seems greatly exaggerated, according to a new financial analysis released Friday.

The analysis, by Standard & Poor’s, looked at the performance of many Blue Cross plans in nearly three dozen states since President Barack Obama’s health care law took effect three years ago. It shows the insurers significantly reduced their losses last year, are likely to break even this year and that most could profit — albeit some in the single-digits — in 2018. The insurers cover more than five million people in the individual market.

After years in which many insurers lost money, then lost even more in 2015, “we are seeing the first signs in 2016 that this market could be manageable for most health insurers,” the Standard & Poor’s analysts said. The “market is not in a ‘death spiral,’ ” they said.

It is the latest evidence that the existing law has not crippled the market where individuals can buy health coverage, although several insurers have pulled out of some markets, including two in Iowa just this week. They and other industry specialists have cited the uncertainty surrounding the Congressional debate over the law, and the failed effort two weeks ago by House Republicans to bring a bill to the floor for a vote.

    http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare...shutdown-fight

Congressional Democrats are demanding that key ObamaCare payments be included in the next spending bill, raising the possibility of a government shutdown if they are not.

The calls come a day after President Trump on Wednesday threatened to cancel insurer reimbursements in an effort to force Democrats to negotiate on healthcare reform.

Without the payments, known as cost-sharing reductions (CSRs), many insurers could pull out of ObamaCare exchanges or spike premiums, causing chaos in the health insurance market.

“The President’s comments on stopping the Cost Sharing Reduction payments will increase costs, is a threat to the good health of the American people and a threat to keeping government open,” an aide to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said in a written statement.
Democrats say Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) are in agreement that the payments must be included in the spending bill being negotiated ahead of an April 28 deadline. Democrats want the funds to become mandatory spending, which would provide the certainty insurance companies have requested.

The CSRs are reimbursements for insurers that cover low-income ObamaCare enrollees.

The Democrats' move effectively turns the tables on Trump. They say they won't cave on ObamaCare repeal because of Trump’s threat to cancel the payments and sabotage the law.

“The president’s comments have increased the urgency to get this included in the appropriations discussions, and Sen. Schumer intends to push hard for it,” a Senate Democratic aide said.

So it looks like the Freedom Caucus and the rest of the GOP are coming close to agreeing on another healthcare bill.

Near as I can tell this has all the problems discussed with the first bill plus some new crap that is even worse.

It seem the GOP idea is to give anyone who is moderately profitable to the insurance companies and anyone who is high risk be thrown in a state or federal high risk pool. Plus some other stuff like being able to petition to waive some federal protections for your state if you think it can knock a few bucks off insurance premiums.

But is it horrible enough to get more GOP'ers to vote for it? That's the question.

Apparently so. The Freedom Caucus that derailed the first bill had a hand in this new compromise. It sounds like there may be enough votes in the house to get it to the Senate. But I have no idea if it has enough votes in the Senate.

The f'n balls on these people.

    http://www.vox.com/2017/4/25/1542998...ahca-amendment

House Republicans appear to have included a provision that exempts Members of Congress and their staff from their latest health care plan.

The new Republican amendment, introduced Tuesday night, would allow states to waive out of Obamacare’s ban on pre-existing conditions. This means that insurers could once again, under certain circumstances, charge sick people higher premiums than healthy people.

Republican legislators liked this policy well enough to offer it in a new amendment. They do not, however, seem to like it enough to have it apply to themselves and their staff. A spokesperson for Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) who authored this amendment confirmed this was the case: members of Congress and their staff would get the guarantee of keeping these Obamacare regulations.
