also, strikeouts don't cause double plays.

Not even sure where this perception came from, except maybe the fact that he arguably had a low regular-season RBI total relative to his HR total. I think some people jumped on this as evidence that he only hits solo shots and doesn't hit the big ones. But he has been great in clutch situations this October, hasn't wilted under the pressure, and hasn't let himself be derailed by the strikeouts -- many of which are attributable to an expanded strike zone that would have a lot of players breaking bats over their knees.

I don't think it's been said enough -- give this kid a fair strike zone, like he got last night, and he's going to punish the ball.

It was just the overfascination with HRs by shortsighted coaches, development staffs, and some dumb fans that led hitters to just have two outcomes: HR or strike out

None of those guys was 6"7, with an enormous strike zone.

To me, if the umps can get on board with his strike zone, and call the low pitches more fairly, he will cut down on the Ks.

Last night, at one point, AJ was called out on a strike just below the frame of FoxTrac (or whatever it's called.) Then he walked across the plate to head back to the dugout. His knee, with his weight on the foot, was right next to the little dot that shows location when it crossed the plate while they still had the pitchtrack on the screen. The hollow of the knee was clearly above the pitch dot, AND above the bottom line of the zone outline, by a good 2". Visual proof the call AND the electronic zone were WRONG for Aaron Judge.

    His knee-to-ground measurement is enormous.

I wish there was a way to turn off the electronic strike zone. Sometimes I just want to see it au naturale.

Huh? Wouldn't it be the opposite? He shouldn't get much to hit and be pitched around when runners ARE on base.

If first base is open, yes.

You'd have to get a more detailed breakout of "runners on base" to know one way or the other.

    PLEASE.....PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE.

Do not let this dumb old school line of baseball thinking influence you. Do NOT change your swing. Do what you do, because it works. Not only that, it works for your body. Keep the same swing plane and try harder to identify pitches out of the zone. Thats it. Trying to shorten up your swing will ruin you. The umps will eventually give you calls and not only that, you will improve your eye due to the fact that pitchers won't change either.

    PLEASE. Stay the same.

An ancillary reason for wanting to see the Yankees win the series is that Judge is probably in position to win ALCS MVP right now. Seeing as he'll likely lose the AL MVP to Altuve, it would be fun if the Yankees advanced past Altuve's Astros with Judge being the best player in the series.

He said in an interview to Verducci (I think) that he wasn't gonna change his approach/swing.

I think he should win MVP though

Not just as a biased opinion either

He leads the AL and Altuve (except RBI's in which he's 2nd) in every category except batting average and steals, including WAR. The Astros win their division without Altuve. The Yankeess don't sniff the playoffs or make any trades to push themselves towards a run

    He rejuvenated New York baseball

That's already been debated ad nauseam and has nothing to do with my point.
