Judge would be the only reason I would watch it.

What do you mean by "pay him"? Is their some bonus clause in his contract?

He obviously is contracted to do X amount of games for Y amount of dollars. So pay him more to do more games.

Don't you have to be an All-Star to get an invite to the HR derby? I'd like for Judge to get an invite if that is the case.

It is usually all stars but I don't think it is a requirement. I have a vague recollection of a few participants recent years in the derby who were not in the regular game. I can't think of any names off hand and I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there have been a couple.

No, I just don't care much about the homerun derby. If Judge is in it, I will probably watch it though.

I actually enjoy the HR derby when i get a chance to watch it. But usually I'm busy doing something else and don't miss it.

Most of the time is pretty boring but it can be heck of fun when someone puts on a show like Hamilton did at the Stadium that one year and few other ones that had some memorable moments.

Different strokes. Its just not my thing. I think watching it in person might be different. On TV its just not that compelling to me.

Though, being familiar with Yankee Stadium and seeing Hamilton hit to areas I could relate to was a little different. I did watch that one because it was at The Stadium. Beyond that, I may have watched 2 or 3 of them.

Don't know if it has been verified but I have heard that juiced balls are used in the derby. Specifically, I believe the notion was tied to that Hamilton exhibition at the stadium.

If they don't they should. It's an exhibition for the fans who want see balls hit a mile.

Well if that is the idea, why not have them hit golf balls? Legitimate baseballs should be used at all times. If for no other reason, for the sake of historical comparison. If Hamilton had hit a ball completely out of the "old" Yankee Stadium during the HR Derby, would he truly have accomplished the feat that no one else had been able to do?

Anyone know where I can find numbers on different pitch types for a batter?

    EDIT: Found it.

his swing elevates the ball less than ideal. particularly for pitches on the outside.

Literally one of the most entertaining player-based group of games in my entire life as a Yankee fan. Mattingly's HR streak, Oscar Azocar's call up, Spencer's call up, Joba's call up, Sanchez last year - Judge has me legitimately giggling each time he makes contact like that. It's such a happy feeling. Kind of reminds me of Linsanity a little bit, actually.
