I'll gladly make a trade with the Padres if they want to keep Torrens that bad.

So, yeah, he faced Maikel Franco, the best hitter on the Phillies and a guy who killed the Yankees last year. He's not only an MLB regular but a guy who had an excellent season and had Yankees fans kicking themselves they didn't pony up an additional $5,000 sign him.

I'm convinced that you don't even watch Severino pitch before trashing him based on SPRING TRAINING performance. I think you look at box scores and, when the line looks ugly, you post that he sucks and should've been traded for blah, blah, blah..

When he is perfect over three innings with no walks and 5 strikeouts, you come here with "he didn't face anyone." Very convenient way to maintain that narrative of yours, even when it's totally off base.

He has shown more depth on his slider, thrown his changeup more often and done so in hitters counts, something he never did last year. Those are the types of adjustments you want to see and are more important than his spring training ERA. It's why you can't scout the box score. Oh and he's also still sitting around 97 and hitting 98 in a starter's work load.

Said the same last year. Can they find a way for him to do both? Hook up a microphone in the dugout.

The "facing nobodies" narrative doesn't really apply at this point of Spring Training, either. When I saw the Yanks play the Phillies a few weeks ago, sure. But most "nobodies" have been sent home at this point. We're at the point where teams are making the final selections for opening day rosters.

The better argument is that the Phillies roster is just 75% nobodies, regardless of the time of year lol.

I take Jeterrules on Sevy about as serious as whether or not Tanaka will come here.

are you mad? He should be in the booth for every game. He is the best announcer on the Yankees announcing roster. By far.

Coney in the only one of the Yankees broadcasters who says what's on his mind. Mainly in the pitching department. Man if we didn't have him I'd mute the commentary.

Seriously. He's not just blunt, he's knowledgeable and hilarious. He makes listening to the game fun. Unlike most of the dweebs we are forced to hear.

I think they should give Flaherty a coaching job instead.

Agreed!! The best by far.. I love when He and Kenny do the games. I don't hate Kay but they can do better IMO. I like Ruocco better. I know it's all a matter of opinion. I had always wished Grande had stayed in the Yankee both.

Good article on why RF should never have been a competition to begin with: http://www.pinstripealley.com/2017/3...ks-right-field

Even if you accept the premise of a RF competition between a 4th OF'er and a legitimate top prospect, it would be absurd for Judge to not be named the RF starter at this point.

Agreed. Could only happen on a team where the two guys calling the shots are named Cashman and Girardi. Any other team and Judge would have been named the right fielder by now. And it's really absurd in a transitional season where the Yankees are not counted on to be a serious contender.

I think Joe Girardi stating the competition is real is his way of motivating both OFers during ST. As long as he doesn't whiff more than 20% of the time, I really want to see Judge get 500 ABs before I try to decide what type of hitter he's going to be.

IMO Hicks has more value to this team as the 4th OFer and specifically as an alternative to Gardner & Ellsbury. If anything he'd be a decent replacement for Gardner in LF should Gardner ever be traded, just until a prospect is ready to step up.

I'd love to see a package built around Severino. Hicks, Mateo, & Refsnyder offered to the White Sox for Quintana.

Just fake news IMO. Let it play out. Those same tools you name, seem to have a special young offense in the making. ST is just that ,ST but even you have to like a lot of what you see.

Yeah I really don't think they can actually not give Judge the job after the spring he has had, and thats not even taking a shot at Hicks because he too has had a solid spring. I agree that they are just motivating both.

Though that offer for Quintana, I strongly disagree with that. Not a chance that the WS do that trade. If we are trading for Quintana it will take one of Frazier/Torres plus people like Sheffield/Kap/Mateo. He's a top pitcher on the market. It'll hurt the farm to get him.
