Re: 2017 NCAA Division I Football Season (FBS and FCS)

For the second week in a row, a Top 25 ranked team will go to overtime.

#20 ranked Washington State Cougars scored the last 21 points in regulation after trailing 31-10 to force extra football in a 31-31 tie against the Boise State Broncos.

Both starting QBs for both teams, Wazzou's Luke Falk and Boise State's Brett Rypien, left the game due to injury.

Boise State backup QB Montell Cozart had 207 yards of total offense and two total touchdowns, but the Cougars defense had two defensive touchdowns.

Washington State backup QB Tyler Hilinski has 179 yards and two touchdown passes.

    Rules for OT:
    - Winner of coin toss decides offense, defense or end of the field.
    - Each team starts at 25-yard line.
    - Team rotates possessions until winner is declared.
    - Points after touchdown:
First two possessions: 1 or 2-point
From third possession onwards: two-point only

Re: 2017 NCAA Division I Football Season (FBS and FCS)

It was a sloppy affair in Pullman as both teams combined for seven turnovers.

Boise State had four turnovers that also saw the Washington State defense had two defensive touchdowns where one was a scoop and six by Robert Taylor and a pick-six from Peyton Pelluer while the Cougars had three turnovers and one defensive score.

Both offensive lines had pass blocking problems as both teams combined for nine sacks. Boise State had five while Washington State had four.

Brett Rypien had 76 passing yards and a lost fumble before leaving the game with an injury.

Wazzou QB Luke Falk broke the Washington State Cougars' passing yards and total offense records with passing 193 yards before a head injury knocked him out of the game. Falk has 11,392 career passing yards in Pullman.

Boise State backup QB Montell Cozart led the charge with a 14-yard touchdown run and Cedrick Wilson caught a 47-yard touchdown pass as the BSU Broncos led 31-10 with 11:06 left in regulation.

But Washington State backup QB Tyler Hilinski threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, one by Jamire Calvin from 17 yards out and the other to Jamal Morrow from six yards out to force overtime.

After both teams traded field goals in the first overtime, both teams scored touchdowns in double overtime.

Gerard Wicks had a one-yard punch for Wazzou and Cozart forced triple overtime with his second touchdown pass of the game to Wilson from 15 yards out.

Cozart had 233 yards of total offense and three total touchdowns in a losing effort.

Wazzou won the game in the third overtime period when Hilinski found Morrow with a 22-yard catch and scamper as Morrow leaped into the end zone.

Hilinski had 240 passing yards and three touchdowns in the victory as Wazzou goes to 2-0 overall.

For Boise State, it is their first loss after leading by 21 points at any point of the game in 102 games.

Re: 2017 NCAA Division I Football Season (FBS and FCS)

BB55's Three Studs and Three Duds - College Football: Week 2

    Three Studs
    1. Baker Mayfield
Why? What a huge primetime performance for Baker Mayfield inside the Horseshoe.

The Oklahoma Sooners redshirt senior QB had 386 passing yards on 27 for 35 completions and three touchdowns as the Big XII sent a huge message to the playoff committee down the road.

    2. Lamar Jackson
Why? What a livewire QB Lamar Jackson is. The Louisville Cardinals dual-threat signal-caller had 500+ yards of total offense and six total touchdowns.

    3. USC
Why? The reason why the Stanford Cardinal had more wins against the USC Trojans inside Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum? They won the battle in the trenches with their physicality.

However, that wasn't the case 10 years on after Stanford's colossal upset over USC under Jim Harbaugh as the Trojans outgained the Cardinal in the running game 307-170.

    Top Honorable Mentions
Georgia Bulldogs WR Terry Godwin and LSU Tigers CB Kary Vincent Jr. making Odell Beckham Jr. and Charles Woodson proud.
    Why? One-handed plays.

Godwin's one-handed TD catch against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UVjmjiCeCg

Vincent Jr. one-handed interception against the Chattanooga Mocs
    https://www.seccountry.com/lsu/lsu-c...vs-chattanooga

    Three Duds
    1. Louisiana Tech's Third-and-93
Why? Another blooper reel as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs has the longest third-down conversion attempt in FBS history after a poor snap on second and goal from the Mississippi State Bulldogs seven and hilarity ensues.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmfyinLDMeo

    2. Auburn Tigers' offensive line vs. the Clemson Tigers
Why? Poor Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham. The Auburn offensive line didn't have much against Brent Venables and the Clemson Tigers defense who had 11 sacks on Stidham. Even worse, Auburn's passing attacking only mustard up 79 yards.

    3. Bret Bielema
Why? The hot seat is getting hotter in Arkansas for Bret Bielema after the Razorbacks lost to the TCU Horned Frogs 28-7 after the Razorbacks were torched in the trenches.

Top Dishonorable Mention: San Diego State Aztecs giving up a touchdown on third-and-37 to the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Why? Sure, the Aztecs won the game over the Sun Devils in Tempe, but this is still embarrassing.
