Tom Tillis NC might be the only other realistic R flip but seem like a long shot.

So yeah unless things change a lot between now and Nov 2020 not expecting the Ds to take the Senate.
McSally is going to lose. Again.

While far from a sure thing, I think it's possible. Those down ballot candidates are going to benefit a lot if there is a strong dem candidate at the top.

Sure but there are only so many R senators in Purple areas running. To flip some of the strong R areas you'll need something really strange either on the national level (like economy tanks under trump) or local level (like Roy Moore factor). So unless there are some retirements where the R who wins the primary has a ton of warts the Ds will fighting a lot of head winds.

By the same token Doug Jones looks like the only really strong possibility of R pick up right now.

There's a path to 50-51 but that still won't make it so we pass a Green New Deal or Medicare for all. You can only do so much through reconciliation.

Of course we can get rid of the filibuster, but I'll believe that when I see it, despite what most of them are saying.

The people that are saying get rid of the filibuster are not the people that can get rid of the filibuster. Trump says it all the time. The Senate ignores him.

The Republicans especially donít want to get rid of the filibuster. If the Senate does flip, the Democrats would use their simple majority to pass lots of new programs, and the Republicans know itís a lot harder to get rid of programs once theyíve been established.

Wait you mean despite having the House, Senate and President they weren't able to repeal and replace the ACA?

I secretly believe that that if the Dems take Congress and the WH they'll kill the filibuster so fast your head will spin.

I was unfortunate enough to be standing outside the Old Senate Chamber watching VP Joe Biden as he swore Heidi Heitkamp in, and said to her: "Spread your legs, you're going to be frisked." Everyone watching just looked at each other, like, jfc, what is with this guy
