I listened to it on the radio. It sounded like a forced hostage tape. Someone should make sure he's okay. Or not.

What the article quoted seemed like a good response. I'm definitely with you on the 'too late', but it seemed like the statement was solid. From what I read, anyway.

I haven't seen the video or heard the speech, though, so I'll reserve the right to deduct points at a later time.

This is the Trump thread and I already posted what I think he should have said.

How about saying he doesn't want the support of the David Dukes, the Neo-Nazis, and all the other cowards that professed their support to 45*.
    Nope! Didn't hear that either.

I was in PT but saw the highlights. See he still can't say "White Christian terrorist". Even Sessions said the car attack was terrorism. Someone rams pedestrians on a London bridge he can't wait to tweet. He wrongly states a shooting in a Philippines casino was a terrorist act. Yet when it is a white American male doing the same he has to be forced to comment. Sad.

That tends to happen when the current POTUS is constantly blowing it.

He'd already commented. In his typical asinine fashion.

Had this been his initial response to the situation he wouldn't have had to come out and make a try to face face speech like this.

Agreed. Today's statement should have been a first impulse kind of thought. Not 48 hours after everyone, including his own party, was killing him for what he said. If I felt he felt what he said I would say great statement. He was the little kid brought by his parents to apologize to the ndighbor for breaking their window.

If he had said the same exact thing two days ago, it would have been a middling statement. Not terrible and not great, but it would be forgotten by now.

Given that he hemmed and hawed and talked around the topic over the past couple of days, he needed to come out and hit a home run today. He didn't do that.

He started by discussing the stock market, job creation and tax cuts. None of which have anything to do with what happened in Charlottseville and, to me, betrayed his true feelings on having to say anything.

Yes to all that, but as I stated before does any of it make a difference? He ran a campaign promising racism. He's done his best to deliver that, between his Muslim ban and his AG pushing for racist policies, just to name two items. His top advisor is Alt Right Obi Wan Kenobi Bannon. He might make Steven Miller his comms director, and short of that Miller has been helping to write policy.

So. Who cares about statements from Trump after a certain point? Anything he says against the backdrop I just painted is completely phony and hollow on his part.

Agreed. I was isolating my comments just to this weekend without the rest of his baggage but I agree.

I know. I guess for me this weekend is what his baggage produces. You can't have someone like Bannon driving policy and act as though white nationalists marching in the streets isn't a desired outcome.

Thanks for bringing Bannon up. As long as he is employed, any words proclaiming to condemn the alt right/nazis (same thing) are meaningless.

How sad is it that it's 2017 and the top news story is "president denounces racism"?

Pathetic. Even sadder it took two days to drag the president to do even that

    http://time.com/4899956/donald-trump...w-gallup-poll/

New poll today shows Trump approval rating down to 34%. Don't recall any president with one that low.

Edit: this is the Gallup poll and the only President since and including Carter to have a 61% disapproval rating was Bush (43) and it took him 1,932 days to reach that number.

I promise you I shall not sleep anywhere in the same vicinity as Sebastian Gorka.

Although I hear from a few circles that white supremacists really aren't the problem. We need to both sides this sh*t and get to the bottom of it.

Not a problem. Didn't know if you had heard it or read it somewhere:

And this march, which produced a terrorist attack, certainly wasn't designed to simply offend.

So maybe you should clarify what you're arguing in regards to this weekend's march? It seems everyone has you wrong.
