We are continuing our prospect profile series today with a profile on Hoy Jun Park that you can read here:
    http://pinstripedprospects.com/pinst...jun-park-18771

Also to make it easier you can view all of our prospect profiles here:
    http://pinstripedprospects.com/categ...spect-profiles

Our columnist talked about trading Jorge Mateo
    http://pinstripedprospects.com/mateo...tradable-18813
(On a personal note I would trade him if it nets us something good, maybe in a package for a young controllable starter)

We also had another year-in-review go out, you can check it out here:
    http://pinstripedprospects.com/2016-...an-foley-18651

We have a few more interviews lined up for the next week or so. We talked with Dante Bichette Jr., we have something going with Blake Rutherford and a few others.

If there is anything you guys want to read about just let me know I am sure I can get a writer on it.

How about an update on Feyereisen, the kid they got from the Tribe in the Miller deal. I am almost positive he will be riding that shuttle in 2017.

Anybody else pick up the set of MLB team prospect PDFs that Chris Crawford put together (made available by Axisa over at RAB)?

You can grab the AL East for $1.99, or all of MLB for $9.99, though as of this reply, the NL isn't ready for release yet (should be later this week)..

You got it, I think I have him on my personal list for the profiles too. I will also work on securing an interview.

As promised earlier in the week here is my column on the 2014 IFA
    http://pinstripedprospects.com/its-s...fa-class-18795

In putting together the data I ended up making complete list of the IFA classes from 2012-2016 so be prepared for more updates on how those are doing in the next few weeks.

    Nice article.

Fun fact; The guy who led the Appl. League in HRs, where Garcia finished 2nd, was 2 1/2 years older. Think about that for a second. For guys in their teens, that is a major difference.

That said, most of those guys from the 2014/2015 period have a long way to go.

Yep but still 13 homeruns in a short season is an accomplishment enough. Shows the power is real he just needs to work on bringing everything together. He will never be a .300+ hitter.

    Agree.

In Garcia's case, I am actually quite optimistic of his chances, because his walk rate was very high. he goes up there with a plan, and has an idea what he needs to look for. So, I think he will improve as time goes on, but there s a basis to build on.

Gomez, on the other hand, has shown me he is a pure hacker. High K rate, low walk rate. He probably can't yet recognize "spin" on the pitch as it leaves the pitchers hand. His future, IMO, is murky, at this time. He has a very long way to go.

Flames is the one I can't yet figure out. Where is all the power he was supposed to have?

    MLB pipeline All Defense Team:

    Shortstop: Kyle Holder, Yankees
Amed Rosario (Mets), J.P. Crawford (Phillies) and Swanson also got votes at shortstop, the most hotly contested position on this list. Holder doesn't have the same high profile because his bat isn't in the same class, but the former junior college basketball player has smooth actions, soft hands, enough arm and a tremendous internal clock.
"I haven't had more people rave about a prospect's defensive prowess to me since the days of Omar Vizquel coming up with Seattle," a second AL scouting official said. "I've had scouts say they look forward to watching Holder take pregame ground balls like they would watching a guy with 80 raw power take batting practice."

Smooth is just the right word to discribe him at SS. He gets to the ball with little effort and seems to always be centered to the path of the ball.

Re: 2017 Yankee minor league news and notes..

If Holder can develop into a Freddy Galvis/Pokey Reese/Jose Iglesias type, who can backup multiple infield positions with plus defense for cheap, I'd be completely content with it (Galvis and Iglesias are even passable starters). I said it at the time, but any player selected in his slot who makes the majors is a good pick. People hated the low offensive upside at the time, since we were still retooling, but he's a nice compliment to some of the other MI types we have. If his defense is as good as those reports, he could even be starting quality while batting .250/.300/.350 (typical Alcides Escobar slashline I copied lol).
