About time. He should have been getting reps all year.

McKinney being groomed for 1B makes a ton of sense and likely secures his future with the Yankees(at least in terms of being protected).

With the rumors of the Yankees planning to protect Cave and McKinney it will be an interesting off-season for sure.

    KLaw chat:

Q: Do Jorge Guzman or Freicer Perez look like starters to you?

KLaw: I haven't seen either yet, but based on what scouts have told me, Perez yes, Guzman probably not.

Q: How unusual is it for a guy like Severino to develop a plus slider out of nowhere?

KLaw: I think it's not unusual, but I have no good sense of how to predict which guy will take a pitch from a 4 to a 6 (or a 7 - that's probably a 7 slider). Aaron Nola had a fringe CH, now it's probably close to a 6. If you just bet on athletic guys with good arms, you'll probably capture all the "new plus pitch" guys, but you'll also get a lot of others in your net you didn't want.

A rival scout who’s canvassed the minors says no one has a better system than the Yankees. That person concluded, “Gary Denbo has done a terrific job. They have the best minor league system, by far.”

    From the same half-assed column:

"The debate about whether the White Sox or Braves has the best system in baseball rages on. One rival said the ChiSox have more prospects with the potential to become big stars, but that the Braves’ system is easily the best overall."

Na. Nola had a dope changeup last year too.

You f*cking scout him, you dumb f*ck. That's the whole point of the business...and perhaps a great indicator of why you're not in it anymore. Holy crap, I can't believe that the defense guys - whose jobs it is to predict what prospects will become - come up with time and again is essentially, "how can you expect me predict what that guy was going to become?"

It's like being the weatherman, you can't blame the weatherman for it raining when it was supposed to be a 5% chance with sunny skies and a brisk wind.

As much as he can't stand it, he has no choice. Dude has been the third best starter in the AL after Kluber and Sale.
