Agreed! I also was surprised by his play at second. Not as bad as advertised.

SWB getting shut down so far in the 5th, but Chance is doing Chance things:

    5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

RailRiders only have 2 hits (Culver and Fowler), Frazier has a BB and a SB.

Chance gave up another run after 2nd & 3rd no outs situation, but got through the 7th on 101 pitches.

    7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 101 pitches, 66 strikes

Tied for the second longest outing of his career (he threw 7.2 innings last year in AA).

I liked the Solak pick at the time. He was a Red Sox-esque pick in the vein of Pedroia, Lowrie, etc. He's doing well so far.

Gleyber just hit a grand slam halfway up the former fake monster to dead dead dead center over the 407 sign. Not many can hit it there.

SWB down 2-0 headed to the bottom of the 9th. Fowler, Refs, Ford, and if anyone reaches, Frazier.

Fowler with his second hit of the game, a ground rule double to lead off.

Refs Ks. He's 0-4 and his hitting streak looks to be over at 18.

Ford goes down 0-2 in the count, then singles home Fowler to cut the lead to 2-1.

Frazier up now as the winning run, and they're going to the bullpen for another pitcher (Rucinski, a 28 year old who has pitched in the Majors this season).

EDIT: Frazier lines out to RF.

It's the origin of all the power/momentum of the lower half. When the weight is transferred through the swing you might pivot your back foot a bit, or even move it slightly (think Frank Thomas) through the swing finish, but I don't know that I've ever seen such a deliberate back foot displacement, almost perpendicular to the pitcher. It goes against so much of the generally accepted fundamentals of a baseball swing.

there are other at-bats of his that show lack of balance due to that foot shift+twist. it shifts either right at or immediately after contact, so uhh. it's like he's swinging while breakdancing

I mean, it doesn't seem to affect him in the least bit, it's just really unique to me. It makes no sense to have momentum going away from the direction of your weight transfer, but he's hitting moon shots like that, so who am I to say anything.

And I disagree strongly about him looking unbalanced - he looks incredibly balanced through his swing and follow through to me. That's actually what jumps out to me the most about the way he attacks pitches. He doesn't look like he's flailing or that someone could just push him over with one finger at the end of his follow through. He seems really measured and on-balance despite the weirdness with the back foot.

uh how does he look balanced when he's moving the backfoot during the swing motion? makes no sense from a basic mechanical point of view. where is the normal force coming from. the foot shifting certainly isn't helping.

not saying that he sucks btw. on one hand, he is having success despite the swing problems, so there could be even more upside there untapped. on the other hand, he doesn't seem to be changing it

Not sure if you're trolling or not here because it's blatant how balanced he is through his swing. But if not, his weight is centralized over his base, despite the movement of the back foot - he's not falling in one direction or another after the swing. His body's momentum is completely under control, even when hitting a moonshot with a savage cut.

that is just one clip. you have to look at his swing through multiple at bats. sometimes he does move wildly after the swing. that foot shifting is one more moving part to the swing that does not help
