MLB.com's latest rankings have him 16th among MIN prospects, 9th among their pitchers. They must really be loaded, the Indians should maybe not even show up next season.

Good to see Florial with a nice day, he's been slumping for a while.

They'll re-do that. He'll be higher. Not that it actually matters. Look at what Corey Kluber was ranked coming up.

This was Sickels more recent writeup:

    8) Zack Littell, RHP, Grade B-/B: Age 22, acquired from New York Yankees for Jaime Garcia; ridiculous stats, went 19-1 in 25 starts between High-A and Double-A with 2.12 ERA, 142/41 K/BB in 157 innings; reputation doesn’t match the numbers because he lacks a blazing fastball, working at 90-92, but his curveball and change-up work well and his outstanding command helps everything play up; may not rank this highly on other prospect lists but he checks off all the markers for a “surprise” guy who everyone under-rates until he gets to the majors, ala Kyle Hendricks or Dallas Keuchel. ETA 2018.

I guess the playoff game doesn't count on his official stats?

But what is interesting, no minor league pitcher has won 20 games since 1992. 25 years ago.

Pretty impressive year by Mr. Littel.
So who was the minor league pitcher from 1992 who won 20 games?

What a chump. Littel has already been announced as the starter for the AL in next year's All Star Game.

Cody Carroll with his 9th appearance tonight, and he still has yet to let up a run:

    1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

This runs his AFL line up to

    11.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 5 BB, 18 K

Id say its doubtful at best. Cash is all about tenure. Heller will get the first shot.

I love his delivery tho. He should be in AAA at the least.

Re: 2017 Yankee minor league news and notes..

Carroll won't be on the 40 man yet either (2015 draftee), but he's definitely climbing the reliever pecking order list right below that.

He is Rule 5 eligible after 2018. So, I reckon he gets a shot later in 2018, as one of the "shuttle" relievers. Heller is probably the one who gets the first shot, and maybe Herrera and German are in the mix also, although I hope they let German remain a starter.

Didn't mention them because I wonder if they may have fallen a bit on the totem pole based on what they did for the big club last year. But if they are around, they will also be in the early mix.

Weak answer, but it's offseason media on our favorite farm system.

    http://m.mlb.com/news/article/262019...icid=151437456

Q: Underrated Yankees prospect to watch next year?

Callis: The Yankees have such a deep system that some of their prospects can't help be underrated. I've seen three guys in the Arizona Fall League who deserve more attention than they get.

Right-hander Albert Abreu isn't on our Top 100 Prospects list, but he showed that kind of stuff when I saw him in October. Thairo Estrada gets lost among some more flashy Yankees middle-infield prospects, but he's a potential starting shortstop in the big leagues. Righty Cody Carroll pairs a 96-98 mph fastball with a hard slider and could contribute in New York's bullpen next year.

To add someone outside the AFL, righty Jorge Guzman could make a huge splash when he jumps to full-season ball in 2018. He works at 97-103 mph as a starter, backs it up with a power slider and threw more strikes than expected in his first season in the organization after arriving in the Brian McCann trade with the Astros last November.

And that's all folks. AFL Championship Game on Saturday, and Scottsdale is not in it. No more stateside baseball until P&C.

Holder didn't play as many games as other guys, but he had the 2nd highest OPS on the team.

Going back to the Cody Carroll bullpen pecking order discussion above, some of that will shake out this weekend as Cashman needs to thin the Shreve/Mitchell/Cessa herd before the rosters are finalized on Monday, but one guy to keep an eye on is Nick Rumbelow who dominated AAA down the stretch last year, a 0.62 ERA in 29 innings over 17 games, just 2 ERs allowed, 29 16 4 2 8 30. We'll know a lot more about this in a few days, but right now I'd say German, Heller and Rumbelow lead the pack fighting for the last bullpen spot.

Mitchell and Shreve are out of options but have no place on the 25-man. Trade or non-tender. Herd thinned.
