    In shock and surreal:

Associated Press September 25, 2016, 9:09 AM MIAMI The Miami Marlins have announced the death of ace right-hander Jose Fernandez.
The U.S. Coast Guard says Fernandez was one of three people killed in a boat crash off Miami Beach early Sunday.
The Marlins did not immediately release details, other than releasing a statement confirming the death of one of the top pitchers in baseball.
In the statement, the Marlins say they are "devastated by the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time."
The Marlins' game Sunday at home against the Atlanta Braves has been cancelled.

A few days ago he posted his pregnant significant other on Instagram and said he's ready for where this journey takes him. I'm so shaken up about this.

He can potentially win the CY this year. First player ever to win posthumously.

Horrible. Not just one of the best in the game but a great human-being. He had near-death scenarios in the two attempts before he came to the US from Cuba. Awful news.

    This was great: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/6479266...is-grandmother

As a Cuban American myself, it's hard to put into words.

He saved his mom from drowning while he was attempting to come to the US from cuba.

What a sad day. I don't think it's going to sink in that he's gone for a long time.

Probably not quite as terrible as Don Mattingly (or whoever decided to push his start back).

I've cried twice in baseball. Derek Jeters last game. Now this. One of my favorite players gone at a time when his career was about to take off. Sickening

This is hitting my hard. That video of him and his grandmother had me balling my eyes out.

Life is precious. Devastated. It is crazy to think how little decisions can impact your life. He was slated to pitch today, but was pushed back to Monday to face the Mets. Most likely, without that decision, he would not have been out that late.

I am stunned. MLB should cancel all games today. I can't see how any player can play today.

Ridiculous how the coast guard officials at the press conference are laughing. Very inappropriate.
