How are both his hair and his beard so wonderful? It's like he has 2 heads of hair at once. He looks like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball

Thank God Maccag did not hand him some big guaranteed deal. Fitzpatrick is who we thought he was...a mediocre QB and career journeyman for a reason.

He makes Brett Favre decisions/throws without the generational talent/arm to go with it.

Fitzpatrick has bad games, really bad games. Then he has AFC player of the week games. He needs to find a way to keep it steady week to week

But the whole team played crappy yesterday even if he was the worst on the team. But WTF is up with the play calling, this coaching staff is hot garbage

Not that the Jets are any good (at all), but that was the most cowardly head coaching performance i've ever seen. I have no idea how owners don't fire guys immediately after watching something like that. You can be an A+ on the practice field and in the locker room, but if you have zero idea about game situations and how to make down/distance decisions, you can't be a (winning) head coach

Just can't find the armies of enthusiasts who attacked me here about 6-7 years ago when I said this franchise is doomed to an endless cycle of failure under atrocious ownership like Leon Hess (previously) and Wacky Woody (now).

"You older fans are holding the franchise down with your bad attitude." (lol)
"If these old people just stopped their negativism we would WIN!"
"Rex will show the way, we will WIN!"

Catching on? Fish rot from the head.

I root for teams owned by Woody Johnson, James Dolan and (until recently) Charles Wang. Wonder if any fan in sports history has ever had a trifecta of bottom-of-the-barrel owners like those 3.

Have you ever rooted for the Cleveland Browns or for the Montreal Expos under Jeffrey Loria?

LA fans had both Donald Sterling and Frank McCourt at the same time. And there was John Moores down the freeway in SD.

Ted Stepien the one time owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers is probably hands down the worst owner of a sports franchise in recent years.

    Would John Spano count?

Re: New York Jets 2016 Football Thread

NY fans are spoiled. Owners, like Dolan and Woody, really want to win. Dolan will spend like a drunken sailor, in hopes of putting an exiting product on the court.

Other guys, like Septien, McCourt, Moores, and Sterling, didn't seem to care about winning or putting a good product on the field. They were more interested in their own pocket.

IIRC, the commish had to veto trades with Septien as he loved trading his high draft picks for players. McCourt tried to take out the equity of his team with the Fox broadcast fees, before Bud stopped it. Sterling was known as the worst owner in sports before V Stiviano tape recorded him. Moores convinced San Diego into building Petco Park, then he focused on reducing the value of the Padres because he was in divorce proceedings.

No but you're talking about individual owners/teams. I'm talking about a 3-owner, 3-sport parlay of suck.

    Said no one ever.

Fitz is a bigger journeyman than Vasco da Gama and Geno is an awful starting option. Petty is probably not the answer but at least he has upside and deserves a chance.

Attention bargain-hunters who don't mind sitting in the cold, watching bad football, and getting home well after midnight on a weeknight. Tonight's Jets game is for you! Get-in price on StubHub is $6, or sit in the mezzanine for $10, or downstairs for as little as $25.

What that O-line allowed to happen to Petty was an embarrassment.

I felt that hit, while sitting on the couch. Petty is a tough guy for just walking off the field. Also, he had a nice 28 yard completion under the circumstances and sacrificed himself. But you're correct, that was an embarrassment.

I haven't been in here in a long while......sadly, I know what game and play is being referred to.
Surprised it didn't become a meme.

I just came in to see if anyone is excited over the pick we got.

    Thanks for the bump.

Absolutely love the pick, and not just because the late D.Watson talk had me looking at the ledge outside my window.

My feeling going into this draft was:

    a) Hope to hell Adams fall to us. I honestly thought he was the best player in the draft (a super versatile guy with the ceiling of a bigger Earl Thomas) & definitely the best guy outside MG
    b) try to trade down
    c) if neither a) or b) are available options, draft OJ Howard or Lattimore
