    The Cook Islands and Samoa were victorious as Oceania kicked off their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in the OFC First Round.

    The Cook Islands whitewashed host nation Tonga 3-0.

    Australian-born and West Ryde Rovers attacking midfielder Taylor Saghabi had a hat-trick in the match.

    Samoa hung on for a 3-2 victory over American Samoa.

    Samoa scored the first three goals of the match in the first 26 minutes. Team Taranaki striker Desmond Fa'aiuaso struck four minutes in followed by tallies from defender Faitalia Hamilton-Pama in the 18th minute and forward Andrew Mobberly in the 26th minute.

    San Jose State Spartans striker Demetrius Beauchamp put American Samoa on the board in the 38th minute.

    Beauchamp completed his brace with four minutes to go, but Samoa hanged on for the three points.

    The Cook Islands moved one step closer to the OFC Second Round of Oceania's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying and booking a spot in the 2016 OFC Nations Cup.

    West Ryde Rovers attacking midfielder Taylor Saghabi scored the only goal of the match, his fourth of the OFC First Round, after 39 minutes in the Cook Islands 1-0 win over Samoa.

    American Samoa kept their OFC Second Round chances alive as they head into their showdown against the Cook Islands after edging and eliminating host nation Tonga in a 2-1 victory.

    Sione Uhatahi gave Tonga a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half, but two goals in a two-minute span gave American Samoa the victory.

    Former Pacific Lutheran Lutes defender Justin Manao equalized in the 49th minute before Ramin Ott, who scored a goal against Tonga in American Samoa's first international competitive victory during 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying back on November 22, 2011, netted the winner in the 51st minute.

    Cook Islands and American Samoa meet in the final match while Samoa take on Tonga.

    Topu Barman scored an own goal to make it 3-0 Australia after 20 minutes before F.C. Tokyo forward Nathan Burns capped off the first-half barrage with his tally in the 29th minute.

    Melbourne City midfielder Aaron Mooy put the icing on the cake for the Aussies in the 61st minute as the Socceroos top Group B with six points.

    Jordan is in second place in Group B with four points after a goalless draw against Kyrgyzstan.

    Samoa advances to the OFC second round of Oceania qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and punching their ticket to the 2016 OFC Nations Cup.

    Samoa defeated Tonga 3-0 and needed help from American Samoa against the Cook Islands.

    Samoa got help after American Samoa blanked the Cook Islands 2-0 and outlasted those two teams via overall goal difference.

    Andrew Mobberly scored his second goal of qualifying nine minutes in to give Samoa a 1-0 lead.

    A brace from Brookvale FC defender Johnny Hall sealed the win for Samoa.

    Meanwhile in the American Samoa and Cook Islands match, the Cook Islands just needed a single point to book a spot in both the OFC Second Round and in the 2016 OFC Nations Cup.

    However, American Samoa blanked the Cook Islands 2-0 to help Samoa advance.

    Second-half strikes from Ryan Aloali'i Mitchell in the 58th minute and Justin Manao's second goal of the tournament nine minutes later gave American Samoa the win and eliminate Cook Islands.

    Samoa, American Samoa and the Cook Islands each had six points, but Samoa had the better overall goal differential of the two by a single goal. Samoa had a +3 overall goal differential while American Samoa and the Cook Islands each had a +2.

    Haiti are one step closer to punching their ticket to the CONCACAF Fourth Round after a 3-1 road win over Grenada.

    Ermis Aradippou forward Jean-Eudes Maurice gave Haiti a 1-0 lead 27 minutes in.

    Grenada equalized six minutes later through a York City defender Anthony Straker penalty.

    However, former Sporting Kansas City defender Mechack Jerome helped Haiti regain the lea d in the 38th minute and Lavon forward Duckens Nazon sealed the win in the 56th minute.

    Nicaragua had the biggest scalp in the first leg stunning 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup runners-up Jamaica 3-2 in Kingston's Independence Park.

    Nicaragua raced out to a 3-0 lead before the hour mark. Real Esteli F.C. midfielder Manuel Rosas converted a fifth minute penalty to give Los Pinoleros a 1-0 lead.

    Rosas' Real Estelν F.C. teammate striker Carlos Chavarria made it 2-0 eight minutes into the match for his fourth goal of CONCACAF qualifying.

    ART Municipal Jalapa forward Luis Galeano made it 3-0 Nicaragua three minutes into second half for his second goal in CONCACAF qualifying.

    The Reggae Boyz hit back though when Vancouver Whitecaps forward Darren Mattocks got Jamaica on the board in the 69th minute and Crystal Palace defender Adrian Mariappa put Jamaica within striking distance in the second leg with his tally in the 78th minute.
