Barring something showing up in tests to come, doctors feel I am a very good candidate. And with the number of people coming forward they say I could have a new kidney in one month or so!

    Good luck!

Edit: Oops -- somehow I missed your post above. That is great news -- congratulations and best of luck with the transplant! I know someone who just had one a couple of years ago and her quality of life has improved so much!

First road block. One test came back with an issue so I need to have a colonoscopy done. Joys.

    That's an understatement.

My BIL moved a TV into the bathroom when he had to prep for a colonoscopy.

Yeah, it's no fun but certainly not nearly as bad as Haribo Sugarless Gummy Bears:

Rick - Although I don't know you, I do wish you the best in all of this. The colonoscopy isn't that bad.

Good Luck to you, I hope the new Kidney comes soon. The best thing you can do is to have a positive attitude and it appears that you do.

    Thanks everyone.

Cardiologist today and then the last step to get on the list is the colonoscopy. Last Wednesday I learned a lot more about the disease and my long term outlook. First it is far better to get a live donation kidney vs. a deceased person's. Live donor's kidneys last an average of 20 years, deceased people, 7-8 years. But either is far better than no as once you get on dialysis (I started in October), only 27% live for another 10 years so while a live donor is far better, I will certainly not turn down a deceased person's kidney either.

I had no idea of that Rick...I can understand not being picky too.

I've had a couple colonoscopies - not fun for sure but I feel like I did better with the pills for the prep..other people I know, got either half pills, half liquid or all liquid. The pills were easier to me if you don't mind taking them...so if you have a choice, I'd suggest the pills. keep us posted.

went for my cardiac consult. Had an EKG done. The nurse shaved where the probes went so now I have a smiley face on my chest. And no I didn't yell out "Kelly Clarkson!". Have to have an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test done and I will have clearance.

All I saw was "shaved" and "probes" and thought you wrote shaved where the pubes are. Was wondering where your heart was located. Bwahh.
