Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Sometimes speaking ill of the dead is the right thing to do. This is one of those times.

How David Koch Changed the World

Few humans hold more responsibility for the unfolding climate crisis than David Koch, the 79-year-old oil magnate who died this week.

Lester Young was born 110 years ago today, and Thursday will be the 99th anniversary of Charlie Parker's birth. WKCR (89.9, or wkcr.org) has a three day festival every year: Pres from this morning until noon tomorrow, then Bird through Thursday. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Muggs - The first half will include lots of Count Basie. Also, Lester Young accompanying Billie Holiday is wondrous.

Can’t you see that long white rope?
    Hangin’ from the hangman’s tree?
Take the restless horse; tie my hands, of course
Tell my mother that I’m finally free
Let me die like a man no one understands
Let me pray, let a poor man pray
Smack that horse in the ass
With my last, dyin’ gasp; my brother could hear me say,

    “Gimme some water!”
‘Cause I shot a man on the Mexican border
    Rest In Peace.

Ric Ocasek, lead singer for The Cars. I was very surprised to learn that he was 75.

Right? Only now it occurs to me that he never quite looked rock-star young in the Cars.

Sort of like I was surprised around 1985 to find out Debbie Harry had just turned 40. But she still looked show-biz young in Blondie's heyday.

Pretty sure he wasn't just the lead singer, didn't he write most of the songs?

I remember being surprised be Harry's age, too, butvweve all known that for 35 years. She looked younger and, especially, she looked hot.

He did. He also was a talented producer. Three of Weezer's best albums were produced by Ocasek.
