I did a brief Google image search of some of the names that year. Bob Kennedy was the closest that I could see.

This made me laugh. Girardi's in amazing shape.
    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/
JOE IS STRONG: The maintenance crew installed a pair of steel rings of the type used by gymnasts hanging from the ceiling outside the Yankees clubhouse, and the beat crew assumed it was for a new routine instituted by team strength guru Dana Cavalea. Turns out they were installed for Girardi, who uses them as part of his Crossfit exercise program. He does something called "muscle-ups, in which you pull yourself up like a chin up and then continue pushing until the body ends up in a dipping position. Girardi says he does them every day. I tried and couldn't do a single one.

That's good to know, in case we need an emergency catcher!

Anybody else annoyed at the "greatest owner ever in all of sports talk" since the great Jerry Buss died? He was amazing but....yeah nevermind.

Are you annoyed because Steinbrenner isn't being considered to be the greatest? Just wondering here.

As much as Steinbrenner accomplished, I think that Buss is looked upon more favorably because he started out dirt poor and turned a $1,000 real estate investment into a billion dollar franchise. He was also very well liked by everyone and as Magic Johnson said, "His door was always open to anyone - players, staff or parking lot attendants." You also can't count out the "Evil Empire" name tag - everybody loves to hate the Yankees.

I don't know. I always viewed Buss as that dirty old man, sugar-daddying girls young enough to be his granddaughter, or great granddaughter, with the bad, tacky plastic surgery and even worse combover. Typical, cheesy Hollywood. That, plus I hate the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are as completely incongruous a name as the Utah Jazz, just not quite as obviously so.

It still works, they just dodge other things.

    Minneapolis

The franchise began with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, the Detroit Gems of the NBL. The new team began playing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, calling themselves the Lakers in honor of the state's nickname, "Land of 10,000 Lakes"

I can't believe that reasoning worked. The "Empire" theme is played when introducing the opposing team, while the "Rebel" music theme is played for the Yankees. The implication here is that the Yankees ARE NOT the evil empire.

Why not? It's the same backward logic that cheaper Stubhub tickets led to lower attendence, especially in the playoffs.

Alex Rodriguez's Charity Donated Only 1% of Proceeds
    http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-S...-1-of-Proceeds

Although A-Rod is the headline grabber here, Anquan Bolden and Josh Beckett are also mentioned as other offenders deeper in the article. This will not do much to repair his image, or the general image of the overpaid, greedy athlete.

The article also mentions some that do an excellent job with their charities, so that's at least nice to see.

Pretty cool. This apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Andy Pettitte said that he might have thrown one no-hitter in his life, probably around age 10 or 11 before he advanced to Pony League ball. What the Yankees lefty knows for sure is that his son just threw one, and he couldn't be more proud.

Josh Pettitte fired a 10-strikeout, one-walk masterpiece in tournament play last week for Deer Park (Texas) High School against Boerne Champion High, and his big league father said that the young right-hander has been taking his success in stride.

Pettitte, 18, has committed to Baylor University. The elder Pettitte said that his son was throwing around 84 mph last summer, which was a tick low for Division I play, but his frame is filling out and he is now lighting up radar guns around 88 mph.

Josh Pettitte often joins the Yankees during the season and has served as a batboy on select road trips. He told FOX Sports Southwest that his father sends him a text message before every game, and that Andy's experience has been valuable in breaking down his own performances.

But does he have 'the stare®'?
