I've been considering to some uber driving this winter but to be honest I have virtually no idea how to go about it. Does anyone have any experience doing that (other than being a passenger)?

Thank you, I appreciate that. I've been looking for a job for a while in anticipation, so hopefully something will pan out.

This is not a good week for you. So sorry. I hope your dad will be ok and you find a better job. Try the entertainment field. They seem to have a lot of new openings.

We were escorted out by the Howell Police, so at least they weren't available to pull me over as I sped home.

    My goodness.

When my last company was doing it's 3 rounds of layoffs we had plain clothes police in the parking lot if anything went bad. There were no incidents, thankfully.

I was laid off in round 1 but asked to stay for 11 months. There wasn't supposed to be a round 2 or 3. But there was. Round 3 (the final round, when everyone left was let go) happened while I was still finishing out my days.

    Such an odd experience.

I'm glad there was no violence for you today.

It was an odd experience...we were told about it in one suite, then walked over to the other to gather our stuff. Everybody was calm (except a few tears that were shed). It was just so surreal.

Go for Lyft instead. No need to give up your membership in the human race.

Sorry about all that's happening to you, Ryan. I hope everything works out.

On another note, though, is no one going to mention that theDurk looks like he has biceps that put 1985 Hulk Hogan to shame?

Got the Christmas shopping just about wrapped up. Just a couple of gift certificates to go get from local places and one stop at the Italian import store for goodies for mom and dad. Cash gifts and Ebay account for 80% of my annual Christmas purchasing. Pistachios and chocolate candies from Heart of the Desert in Arizona have been a hit with friends and family for years so I usually have a large order from them. Cut down the tree last night...we'll take a week to get it lit and decorated.
    Let the kids play.

A newbie, I think. This new poster seems to know his or her way around here. Probably a retread. I trust Bub will figure this out and dispose of quickly.

No signs of Seahorse in my retirement community, but it is desert.

And now they're calling for a few inches of snow on Saturday. My stinkin' leaves haven't even finished falling off the trees yet.

It was in the mid 50s for a high today and I was so happy. It was 90 less than 2 weeks ago. It's supposed to go back up to high 60s and low 70s this weekend. I wish it wouldn't. That should wait until March.

Hello adults who are adultier than I am, I have a question. I requested a limit increase on my credit card back in September and they denied the request, which probably isn't the worst thing in the world. Now they keep telling me that I'm qualified for a second credit card account with the same terms - it's not a mistake, they even mention my first account in the pitch. I'm not going to take it, but...can anyone explain why it benefits them to deny a credit limit increase and instead offer two separate accounts that basically give me the orginally requested limit? I must be missing something.

I'm no financial wiz, but I would guess they then get you for a second annual fee.

I'd get a second credit card from a different bank if I were you. (That may not be good advice, it's just what I would do).
