Went to go throw something in the garbage outside this morning and the lid was covered in maggots. Not sure what's in there but I'm not going to be the one to find out.

I love the Yankees but lately things in this country are so bad that I have little energy to care about baseball. I'm sad they're out of it but I'm not devastated as in years past.

I'll miss having the nightly distraction/excuse not to watch the news, but I understand your point.

I didn't even watch the playoffs, tbh. I just didn't care. And normally I'd be doubly sad because Red Sox. But now it's whatever.

Turns out the maggots were the best part of my day. Because my dad being in the hospital and the washer dying weren't stressful enough, my mom and brother were t-boned in a car accident today. They're ok but a little sore. The car...we'll see. Sigh.

Geez, Ryan. I'm sorry that happened but glad they're OK. Car accidents suck.

Now that summer is over and the camp is closed up I can look forward to some fall and winter fun. Next up, NBA game in Miami against the Lakers mid-November. After what I shelled out for tickets James better play. After that, a long Caribbean cruise end of January.
    Let the kids play.

    Tumbleweed

Who will speak when all is done, a world asleep, a waiting son
The winds that sweep across the land as molecules make plans
Who will cry for all that's gone, childhood stories old men's songs
In the empty village square the tumbleweed spores prepare

Isaac watches through his tears as Abraham draws voices near
I would give my life for you, I wish to god you knew
When the world begins to stray I'm not so sure that I can say
Who will come to fight for you when they train their lights on you
In the empty village square most people wouldn't dare to care

Eyes are searching from afar to steal tomorrow, maybe more
And if this rage upon us stings - it's just the end of everything
    The end we saw begin
Who will speak for all of this, who will stop the ventriloquist
Hurry now 'cause if we fail the tumbleweed will prevail
Do not fear, all we want to do is talk.

Only words, and then your thoughts.

I actually have known that for years. It's pretty weird, though!

It might have been Russian thistle, or it might have been Chinese thistle, or it might have been 400-pound thistle sitting on their bed. No one really knows.
