Why couldn't they pay him next year? They have a decent amount of money coming off the books.

    Castillo 13.5
    Bradley Jr 11
    Sandoval 5
    Perez 5.5
    Pillar 4.2
JD 4 (salary gets reduced by 4, he also could opt out which would free 23.5)
    Moreland 2.5
    Lucroy 1.5

Current payroll 186M (Yanks are currently at 250M for example)
    - the ~47 listed above = 139M (Tax threshold is around 208M)

I may be missing some. I know some players will have their salaries inflate with arbitration, but I don't see why they wouldn't be able to give Mookie 30+, and Mookie strikes me as the loyal type.

Speaking of cheap, I wonder what the Red Sox will do to appease the crowd next offseason? With Mookie staying in LA they no longer have the "we reset lux tax so we can go all in next year to get Mookie back" excuse available.

I know he's off to a slow start, but man, Verdugo's body language looks absolutely awful.

    Re: The Red Sox Thread

The Sox had 16 pitchers on their active roster Sunday, seven who were designated for assignment or released in the last nine months before the Sox picked them up.
Pitchers from that group have started four of the 10 games.
Lol from good buddy Pete's article.
