The rays sweep leading into the 2016. Trade deadline was the greatest 3 losses the team has ever had.

They should make a 30-for-30 documentary about that Rays series and the consequences that followed.

Stanton is only 2.5 years older than the Yankees reigning Rookie of the Year.

Stanton will play next season at age 28.
Judge will play next season at age 26.

On the free agency market, I bet he'd get something like 3/25 to 3/30. The problem is his contract is 3/65.5.
If not for the NTC, I'm willing to bet we could rid of him and only have to eat about $35M of the $65M. DFA makes no sense.

    edit:
    https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-...agent-pricing/

in WAR per dollar terms, he's worth about $16.8M/yr on the FA market, but that's crazy high. I think $10M is about right.
think they'd have to get it down to around $4m, maybe $5m, for a team to be interested.

And they just became best friends. (Sorry, Didi, you're losing yours.)

I was thinking about that Vernon Wells led 2013 team. With the premium talent behind the plate (Stewart and Roimine).

At the time I hated being swept but in hindsight you are right. The entire direction of our team changed with that series
Wonder if the Rays even think now they should have lost those games.

Donít forget about Jayson Nix, Lyle Overbay, Kevin Youkilis, Travis Hafner, Ben Francisco, JR Murphy, Brent Lillibridge, Vidal Nuno, Cody Eppley... Good god that team was boring.

And looking back itís very obvious that Levine and/or Hank/Hal was just like, ďHafner, Wells? Iíve heard of those guys and they were really good once! Letís sign them!Ē With Cashman making a facepalm somewhere.

Let's see him figure out a way from this Ellsbury deal that isn't just him getting released and NY swallowing the entire deal, that would be quite impressive.

If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Ellsbury may refuse to wave his no trade now because he believes he has a chance to win regular playing time. However, he may have a change of heart at the trade deadline or next off season if his playing time is very limited.

The only thing Ellsbury has a chance at winning with the Yankees is a ring.
