Re: The David Cone said what? Thread

Today he said something to the effect that pitchers always wanted to name their sons Willy, because it was they way they liked to see their own names in the paper after a start: W Cone. W Wells ... etc. (And I'm sure he is still loving the dirty minds who want to delve deeper into that one.)

And no pitcher ever wanted to name his son Larry!

His "get busy living or get busy dying" reference was great.

Discussing the fun of watching the Yankees' dynasty:

"You missed the Mel Hall years."

Singling out a (deserving) player to accentuate the lean times.

He's the best. The Zelda music quip was also great.

It's dated now but a few weeks ago he stooged on himself for skimping out on his clubhouse bill his last season with the Yankees.

He said he didn't tip the "clubbies," not that he "skimped out" on a bill.

Noted; the point was more that he admitted it on air. Taking it a step further, he was given the opportunity (again on air) to sort of walk that back with a "You've made up for it since"-esque set up and he not only admitted he hadn't but then made a harmless/friendly dig at David Wells in the process.

He is by far their best baseball analyst on YES. I think YES realizes that because it seems like he's doing more games this year than prior years.

Literally had me loling with the "here, hold my beer" line after the 6-run 5th inning.

Follows it up in the ninth with "where's the Durham bull?" after Dellin slipped a curveball 5 feet off DeShields' head.

Read my mind, instantly thought of Nuke LaLoosh when that pitch slipped.

He never got to make a complete thought out of it, but it was the apparently the first time he heard the mascot of the Mets’ Binghamton affiliate.

    “Rumble Ponies, huh?”

Now he has a couple of months to decide what to do with that info

Wow. He just completely demolished Teixeira. Loved it!

An outstanding comment by Cone. Right off the cuff as well.

He's the manager we deserve but not the one we'll get.
